I performed an act of civil obedience last night. |
|
I removed a B-C bumper sticker from the front of a stop sign. Some right wing Bubba put it there in order to protest the Kerry-Edwards yard sign on the corner (but not in the right-of-way) of my friends rural property. This is the third sign they've had to put up. Sign stealing is rampant in the area. The wing nut probably did not realize the irony of "STOP Bush-Cheney 2004."

3. I work in Oberlin, Ohio (pretty liberal town) |
|
From time to time, I see "Buck Fush" stickers on stop signs.
I've left them alone.

my friend is an elected official in the town, therefore, no funny business allowed. It could make them look bad. After the first Kerry-Edwards sign was stolen they added a handwritten note to the second one that they put out: "thou shall not steal." Apparently, the sign stealer doesn't obey the 10 commandments, because the second sign was gone within 24 hours. Hypocritical right wingers are the worst.
on edit: All this talk puts me in the mood for some late night freeway blogging.

8. I doubt a right winger put it there |
|
There are a lot of reports of BUSH being spraypainted on stop signs, I bet the bumper stickerer was putting it there very deliberately. I doubt a Bush supporter would put it in that location.

This is in a totally Republican County. Democratic yard signs are stolen in vast quantities. Lynchings took place in this area as recently as the 1940's. During the mid-1990's all of the elected official started switching parties. The last Democratic elected official was told to switch parties or they would run them out of office. To even have a chance of being elected, Democrats have resorted to running as Republicans. Ouch! I just couldn't do that.
