If we truly believe, as I know most of us do, that Osama should have been the real focus, shouldn't the fact that he is apparently alive and healthy be big news?

That being said, I understand why it's happening.
While there are certainly issues as - or more - important, this IS big news. It puts Bush's failure front-and-center four days before the election.
The only thing he has to run on is the "war on terror". The main target of that war just mocked him on TV.
