Good evening, DUers!
I am showing my wonderful 10-year old daughter some of the DU forums. She loves to watch the news and discuss politics with me. She was insulted this evening by the republican commercial that had the wolves in the woods. We agreed that only people who are afraid of nature would like that commercial. We also have discussed her plans to run for president when she is an adult. She wants to clean the environment, feed hungry people around the globe, and end warfare.

I would appreciate if some of you would say "hello" to my daughter, who will be President Waterwoman in a few decades!

you are so interested in politics and the well being of our country. Study, study and then study somemore while keeping a compassion for those less fortunate than you. Intelligence, knowledge, empathy, and a real concern for others are characteristics of a great president and a fine human being. God bless and best of luck to you.

"We have lots of trees on our property. I've helped plant them with my family. I really love trees a lot. We couldn't live without them. Dad shows me books by his friend Robert Kennedy about the environment. His uncle was president.

and both his father and his uncle are heroes to me. Your father is wonderful too for introducing you to them so early in life, and for setting such a good example for you by helping you plant trees and take care of them.

It's lovely to meet you, Waterwoman! You're well on your way to making a great president. I look forward to voting for you.

15. Hello Miss H20
We really admire your Pa around here. He keeps us informed on many important issues. Thanks for sharing him with us.

I have a son your age. Like you, he does not like the idea of making wolves seem evil. When he was born, his dad and I had a hybrid wolf. From the time he was a baby she watched over him. He grew up with her and they became inseparable. She even slept in his bed every night he could sneak her in there!

Study hard, and listen to dear Old Dad. I hope someday to help Skinner start a young DUers forum, for kids like you and my son.

Have a wonderful weekend! :)

45. Yup, I had fun in politics class the other day.
We had a F9/11 day, to discuss, etc.

People were trying to stand up for * with the whole "My Pet Goat" debacle ("I was numb, I bet President * was, too." and "He didn't want to scare the kids."). The usual crap.

I went on a rant, saying, "Yes, but you were a 14 year old GIRL at the time; he's the PRESIDENT. His job is to lead and protect the country, and he FROZE. Lots of people were scared that day, when you're the president you have to get over that and DO SOMETHING. What if the NYC firefighters had froze like * did on 9/11? And if * was so concerned with "protecting the kids," he would have realized that he was a target and would have left the vicinity of those kids immediately, for their own well-being."

Said some other crap, too. My teacher just kind of half-grinned at me and said, "Well, I've never thought about it like that before."

President Waterwoman, I love that you have respect for nature! That totally rules. I sometimes wish California still had wolves, but European hunters killed them all and the grizzly bears, too. I find it ironic that the symbol on the Californian flag is a grizzly. There isn't a single grizzly left in the state!
