I Think It's the Saudis Again. |
|
I believe one of the biggest unspoken scandals is the security breach committed by George Bush in sharing intelligence with the Saudis.
In fact, if you look at it, he has done nothing but the bidding of the Saudis for years. I'll never forget Prince Bandar saying about the flight of the Bin Ladens out of america after 9-11 that "his majesty didn't think it fair that they be subjected to possible harm as a result of 9-11". Note the "his majesty", not Bush.
I don't think Rove put this one out. Why include the taunt about reading about pet goats in there?
I'm convinced the tape is a fake. Blowup the pictures. The guy looks better than the first fake bin laden, but it's still not him.
I think the Saudis are still jerking Bush, like they jerked him on 9-11.

On edit....sorry, I sped read your post and didn't grok it properly. :-)
* He sucessfully deflected the heat off of SA, home of 15/19 of the 9/11 hijackers and the mastermind OBL. The bin Laden family is a very influential family in SA and allies of the House of Saud.
* Bush had members of the royal family flown out of the US right after 9/11.
* Bush took out the Saudi's biggest threat, Saddam Hussein, and laid the groundwork for a pan-Islamic ME with the SA in the religious driver's seat.
No, I think SA ought to be extremely thankful that GWB was pResident when they attacked us on 9/11/01, killing 3,000 innocent Americans. I'll bet anything that tape was released today as a gift from Prince Bandar....

3. Those gifts cut both ways. If you think the Saudis don't want |
|
a way to keep Bush in check, you should consider it. How much did the Saudis benefit from 9-11?
Can they blackmail Bush if they need too? I don't care if they are business partners. Isn't that what the ole doublecross is all about?
It's not a question of being pissed at Bush. But the power to use him.

5. Au contraire, I do think they already have him leveraged nicely. |
|
The Bush family has a long, interesting history with the House of Saud. Young George has had serious Saud money invested in his failed business ventures. And I have no doubts that he could well be blackmailed by these people. Remember, he does have a past that has been hidden from the America public...but the Sauds may well have incriminating chapters well documented as their insurance policy.
How have the Sauds benefited by GWB's pResidency? Two big ways:
(1) He has taken out a serious threat in Saddam Hussein and his heathen sons. That secular threat will be replaced eventually with a fundie theocracy more in line with their regional interests. 2) Iraqi oil has been pretty well removed from the market....making Saudi reserves worth a whole lot more in the foreseeable future. Any future Iraqi government will most likely work with SA in manipulating market prices.
Interesting, too, that this democracy loving administration has little appetite to carry the concept into SA......
Actually Soloman, I think we are pretty much in agreement on that. I truely believe our national security interests are dangerously compromised with regards to SA. Not only do they have Dimson leveraged, but their US investments are so extensive that they could well bring our economy down if they decided to liquidate their holdings here.
