So on Olberman tonite he talked about the Redskins..
.. deciding who wins the presidency based on if they win or lose their game which preceeds election day. Said when they won 17 games the incumbent won and lost 6 the challengers won. It was pretty freaky to see this. Did anyone catch it?

I live in VA and hate the Redskins, but this Sunday I will be cheering the Packers on BIG TIME!

Won't you all join me in rooting for Green Bay?

Go PACKERS!

1. Tin Foil Hat Theory....
...Does Olberman secretly want us to root for the Packers? Does he want Freepers to pull for the Redskins? The most watched sorry football game of all time?

3. I heard this same thing weeks ago on some sports program.
It was also a topic on DU for a while. I suppose this is another belief like the curse of the babe for the Red Sox, but I'm rooting for the Packers anyway.

4. Mentioned on Snopes and other websites
http://www.snopes.com/sports/football/election.asp

In Washington, where politics are surpassed in prominence only by the Redskins, fans are well aware that the hometown Redskins' three Super Bowl wins have come with a Republican President in office. They are also aware of another odd football statistic. For 72 years, the winner of the Redskins game just prior to an election has indicated the future commander-in-chief. In 18 straight pre-election games, if the Redskins lose or tie the last home game before the presidential election, the party in the White House loses the election. A Redskins win is a win for the incumbent party. So keep an eye on the game Oct. 31 when the Redskins take on the Green Bay Packers. If the Redskins lose, President George W. Bush may start packing his bags a little early.
