FEDERAL BUDGET


Fiscal year 2000: $237 billion surplus. (record)


Fiscal year 2004: $413 billion deficit. (record)


UNEMPLOYMENT


2000: 4 percent.


September 2004: 5.4 percent.


EMPLOYED AMERICANS


November 2000: 132.3 million.


September 2004: 131.6 million.


DOW JONES INDUSTRIAL AVERAGE


Election Day 2000: 10,952.
