I think Media should not tell polls or opine until after the election |
|
I really do. I think the partisianhip would diminish a great deal. I think the talking heads would be unemployed and I think it would be a cleaner election process if they just reported the news and didn't open their traps. Are these people actually more qualifed to put in their two cents to the world than we are?
I think 60 minutes, Face The Nation, Meet the Press should still have a forum but this 24/7 all talk, all argue, all opining, all polling is over the top ! They are killing America and we are guilty for indulging. Freedom of speech is one ting but the are being paid for stirring people up. I think they all want to be in movies and have settled for anchors with opinions.

2. Jail everyone involved with polling... I think it is insane to report |
|
the results (predictively) of the presidential election 1400 times before the election. I think polling is one of the single most detrimental things that there are for the democratic process. Polls are bullshit... and they taint, distort and pervert the very process they are supposed to assist with.
Polling should be illegal, just as lobbying should be illegal and punishable by jailtime. Polling allows the big monied interests to know just how much they need to spend to "buy" the presidency... and lobbyists determine the sale price of the whitehouse.
And the call the whole thing democracy..... well it is if you don't mind being ruled by the almighty dollar.... the end.

My father was very conservative, yet, he did not impose his views on his children. He was a member of the John Birch Society. Yet, what I learned from him, was to read and listen to all news sources and then make an opinion.

4. This is so funny....I posted this then Walter Cronkite said the |
|
same thing on the History Channel in an interview last night. I said I wonder if Walter reads DU (just kidding)That was a very interesting interview. News only used to be 15 minutes, I forgot that. Then went to thirty minutes. For Breaking news, it had to earth shattering and the weather took up more time than the evening news. He said he only made one opinion once in his lifetime and that was subtle and over the Vietnam war and Nixon said, If I have lost Cronkite (talking about opinion) then I have lost AMerica) and the war ended there sthortly. HE was known as The most trusted man in America. He said if he anchored today, he would give the same speech about Iraq. He said he did not give a liberal slant on the news but he was most certainly a liberal. That a liberal just meant you care about people and folks less fortunate than yourself. The boss didn't breathe down his neck telling him how and what to report either. God I wish we had those days back.
