9/11 = Freedom To Attack ANY Country, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME.
I still don't understand why so many Americans, and others, seem to believe that just because 9/11 happened to the United States, we now enjoy the freedom to attack any country, anywhere, anytime, all in the name of the umbrella justification of 'fighting terror'.

The bottom line is that American cannot exist in a perpetual state of warfare. That is how the terrorists exist; always unable to think beyond the next violent or military conflict. America does not exist in a vacuum and cannot think of its actions only through the lens of self-interest. The war in Iraq was not part of the war on terror, and linking the invasion of Iraq with a legitimate response to the 9/11 terror attacks is foolish and dangerous. America cannot go down the slippery slope of unilateral invasion of any nation, even if based on 'solid' intelligence, as we have now seen how 'solid' intelligence can evaporate rather quickly, but if you acted upon it, the real world consequences long outlive their phony justifications.

Other nations have been attacked on their native soil a great many more times than the United States. That is not to diminish the horrible and dastardly attacks of 9/11, they were and are horrible and inexcusable. But imagine if any of those nations throughout history had reacted with such volatility and selfishness as to feel emboldened with a global crusade mentality, holding the self-righteous belief that a terrorist attack gives them the right to act like terrorists themselves; rampant offensive and mindless war.

The world would not be here today.

1. Right on! That's what happens when someone wants something that.
someone else has.

Perpetual state of warfare. Perpetual state of warfare.

Blessed be the peacemakers.

And to paraphrase Kazantakis...

I want nothing, I fear nothing, therefore I am free.
