Need a quick debunking of stupid email joke from repug relative
not sure how to search Snopes for this one: fake carnival cruise add referencing a bunch of liberal hollywood and media celebs' PROMISES TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY IF W IS "RE"ELECTED.

Doubt if (m)any made the promise, though I have thought of it! Anybody have a quick reference?

Stupid "joke":

We at Carnival Cruise Lines didn't forget that a lot of entertainers had promised to leave the country if George W. Bush were to be reelected President.

With that in mind, we have a Special Offer for those who still want to keep their promise!

Attention: Would Alec Baldwin, Rosie O'Donnell and her wife, Ed Asner, Janeane Garafalo, Whoopi Goldberg, Al Franken, Michael Moore, Cher, Phil Donahue, Rob Reiner (apparently still a "meathead"), Barbara Streisand, Jane Fonda, Pierre Sallinger, as well as the entire staffs of the LA and NY Times and anyone else who made that promise, please dispose of all US assets and report to Florida for the sailing of the Fun Cruiseship, "Elation," which has been commissioned to take you to your new vacation homes in Afghanistan.
Oops, Pierre Salinger has already departed.

You may opt to be dropped off in Somalia or Iraq.

The Florida Supreme Court will sponsor a Farewell Parade in your honor through Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties prior to your cruise.

Please pack for an extended stay... at least four more years.

Note: Since you advocate strict gun control, you may not bring any.

Staffing your voyage is Bill Clinton as captain, Al Gore as cruise director, Grey Davis, Purser Terry Heinz Kerry hopefully will be kept somewhere below decks away from the media.

Monica Lewinsky as the "Cigar and Cigarette Girl",

Entertainment by the Dixie Chicks and Bruce Springsteen, John Kerry will be our Life Guard in consideration of his past experience in pulling people out of the water. (Unless he decides at the last minute not to go) He is advocating the elimination of the game "shuffleboard" in favor of his new game he calls "waffleboard" Be sure to pack your flip flops as you will need them! while playing.

Ted Kennedy will double as Bartender and Director of Emergency Procedures

Al Sharpton will provide inspirational services, and Ex-Congressman Gary Condit as intern coordinator.

If you have any questions about making arrangements for your homes, friends and loved ones, please direct your comments to Senator Hillary Clinton. Her village can raise your children while you're gone, and she can watch over all your money and your furnishings until you return.

"Bon Voyage!"

Is this a great country or what? It's called freedom of Speech.

14. not sure
Imagined something like Snopes - a list of these folks with some notation that no mention of "leaving" could be attributed to this individual etc.

But I kind of liked the cartoon below combined with "no wonder so many might want to leave."

3. Well, it is pretty clever.
There's really no way to debunk something like this. I'd just respond by saying thanks for the chuckle and don't forget to vote! You could counter with all the horrible scenarios that are going to play out in our nation if "W" is "re-elected", and end with "no wonder these folks want to leave the country. I'd like to join 'em." But I doubt it would change any minds.

Only one thing's important: We must defeat Bush!

6. Reply:
Don't worry, he won't be re-selected.

Republicans, however, might want to pack a bag for an extended stay - AT A POUND-ME-IN-THE-ASS PRISON!!

You just can't hijack this democracy for personal, and corporate gains, and send 1100 young men and women to their deaths for those same reasons, and get away with it!!

Rotten filthy scum!

7. This was floating around after the 2000 debacle, if I recall correctly.
I also remember some smart-ass jumping all in Alec Baldwin's business about how he said he'd leave the country if Bush* won in 2000. His response?

"Oh, I would have left -- if he'd actually won the election."

Haven't heard any of them say much like it this year. I suppose they're saving it up for the potential re-debacle.

10. Well just remember..
there are many rightwingers who have said they would leave America if Kerry is elected. So you can hold them to that. Maybe these blokes can float over to Mr. Howard's rightwing Australia.
