Activism Alert
It is time for the members of DUers start calling the FCC to report another attempt at media abuse. The company Pappas (I may have misspelled pappas) Telecasting, which is based in California is giving $350,000 worth of free television time to Republicans for them to put out last minute ads in order to win in California. The free air time will be broken up and given to 13 different Republican committee. This allows Pappas to get around California law in that California law allows a maxium contribution $25,000. The company will give $125,000 worth of free air time to Democrats, but the Democrat's ads will only be played on 1 Spanish language station while the Republican ads will be played on English language station throughout California.

The company said that the free air time was an in kind contribution to the Republicans. The company went as far as to compare the free air time to food given to a company by a catering company. I think DUers need to call the FCC and ask them to investigate whether Pappas can actually do what they are trying to do.
