DU has a post on a new deal signed by China and Iran for oil and |
|
natural gas. Knowing how one of the aims of the PNAC is to deny any potential rivals access to this vital resource, can a war with Iran be far behind? Would that mean a war with China? Are we ready for a war with China? Please tell me I am wrong and all wet.

2. Iran and China may be sending a preemptive signal to the Bush war mongers |
|
that they should keep their itchy fingers out of Iran.Who knows, this may even signal a military treaty between Iran and China. If that is the case, the situation in the Middle East takes on a ominous new meaning.

new meaning? the administration has been thinking about this for years i'm sure. this touches on the statement in a PNAC doc. about developments in biological warfare to design bugs that attack specific phenotypes which will change bio. warfare from a terrorist threat to a "useful political tool".

4. I meant that China is sending a signal that it is going to seek resources |
|
like oil wherever it can find and any one stops them from getting this vital resource is going to feel China's wrath.

i see no reason why the US would leave their ball at the playground. instead, they'll take their ball (civilization) and go home. it's not a question of china's wrath IMO, it's a question of ours.
over the past 200 years of foreign policy predicated on western supremacy, i can't imagine those in power allowing themselves to be knocked down a rung.
this is my tinfoil. it fits me well.

7. China, unfortunately, has been at this game a lot longer, say by about |
|
4000 years than we have.It is also the place that invented the term Middle Kingdom to define what should be called Chinese Supremacy.I can now see that two versions of Supremacy are going to be on a collision course soon.

IMO, if we don't win, we won't let anyone win. re: comparing the length of civilization... all i can say is that if anyone is devoting more to true WMDs (bio. weapons that attack genetic phenotypes), it's us. china will not win, even if we (and everyone else) loses.

11. Welcome to DU, Clu! Thanks for your perceptive posts. I agree that |
|
the chimera of world hegemony is going to be a fight to the death between two giants witha lot of bystanders consumed by them.I won't discount China's ability to match us weapon for weapon.Unless one of us blinks, expect another fifty years or more of War fever on both sides of the Pacific.

while nothing happens overnight, it is possible to assume a bush victory, more supreme court nominees, more media bullshit, and as a result, a greater acceptance by the general public of imperialistic foreign policy.
the only thing that can stand in it's way is us. perhaps most important are the way we present ourselves when confronting selfishness and bigotry and the manner in which we raise our children.

Not sure what can happen when China owns you, but I'm sure PNAC can find a way out of that.
We are surrounding China and Iran though.
Iran: Iraq to the west. Afghanistan to the east. Could get ships to the south. We're in Azerbaijan to the north.
China: An ally(for now) in Pakistan to the south. Also India. Military bases in Uzbekistan, who is ruled by a dictator that we're very friendly with. Still in Japan and South Korea to the east.
Could you imagine if China had a military base in Newfoundland, a few in southern tip of British Colombia, and maybe a couple in Mexico? It's a crazy world.
