Need comments on my LTTE re: bin Laden video |
|
This will be to the Orlando Sentinel, limit 250 words (it's pretty close).
Reject Fear George Bush claims to make us safe even as he does everything within his power to make us less safe. And now bin Laden has returned with a video reminding us of Bush's failure - except that the Republicans and the media would have you believe otherwise.
For example, regarding the video a senior GOP strategist stated that "anything that makes people nervous about their personal safety helps Bush." He called it "a little gift," saying it helps the President.
"It's very helpful to the president," according to Bush ally Sen. John McCain. And somehow NBC's Andrea Mitchell believes that the video "almost makes it more difficult" for Kerry to continue pointing to the administration's failure to capture or kill bin Laden.
That statement in itself is amazing, but only serves to remind us of the true failure these past four years. Bush ignored the threat of terrorism until September 11, when it was too late. He ignored his own "dead or alive" statement by allowing bin Laden's escape at Tora Bora. And when it finally came down to it, Bush said "So I don't know where he is. You know, I just don't spend that much time on him, Kelly, to be honest with you... I truly am not that concerned about him."
As Franklin Roosevelt said, "We have nothing to fear but fear itself." This administration has based its entire campaign on fear, and I for one am tired of it.

2. My experience would be to change the article completely |

Nothing personal about your writing, I have just found that most papers won't print a LTTE that looks like a piece of journalism. I think it may scare them or something. Quotes scare these people, they want pure opinions, nothing backed up by evidence. It is a very well written letter, FL may be different than OH though.

3. The quotes support the point |

I understand what you're saying, but since journalists won't do the job, I guess we have to. And if it gets printed, all the better.

It's direct and to the point with evidence in the quotes to back up your premise.
