It's official : Bush is toast
The Osama video has brought to an extremely burning white light EXACTLY what John Kerry and many of us here at DU have been saying all along. Bush made a grave error in judgment diverting his attention away from Afghanistan and Osama and attacking Iraq.

Here is a yahoo story concerning polling results about how voters feel about Osama still being alive

<snip>
I'm going to read you paraphrasement about Osama Bin Laden's videotape - this is a poll that was conducted by Democracy Corps, I'm going to read you a paraphrasement about the release of Bin Laden's videotape, please tell me what comes closer to your view:

One, it makes me think that George W. Bush took his eye of the ball in Afghanistan and diverted his resources to Iraq;
Two, it underscores the importance of George Bush

By ten points, 46-36 percent, voters responding to the survey agreed with the first statement

<end snip>

War time president...MY @SS...more like idiot select. The guy has failed in every respect and nothing and I mean nothing demonstrates that is brilliantly as Osama kicking back in the lap of luxury taunting the American public

As soon as any Freeper opens their mouth, tell them "I see Bush's buddy Osama is doing well"

BTW:rate the story a 5

2. Once again Kerry is proven right in his allegations and criticism of Bush
Over and over Kerry has seemed to be going out on a limb with his strong criticisms of Bush, but then when the facts emerge, Kerry is proven to be right with the facts on his side backing up all of his claims about Bush's lack of judgment and poor leadership and wrong policies.

7. Hey Wishlist your next post is #1000
make it a good one.....

When I listen to Kerry talk it is like he knows exactly how I feel about Bush and the war in Iraq. Kerry's assesment of the situation is right on the money.

Osama being alive is proof Bush doesn't give a F___ about the American people. Even thou he has tried to use the victems of 911 for every vote he can squeez out of the mis-informed scared, huddled masses

PATHETIC

4. that's a bad poll
I agree with the sentiments expressed, but that's a pretty loaded question. If the media message had gotten spun that way, it would be one thing, but it hasn't. And, let's be frank. Anybody whose vote this tape would affect isn't smart enough to interpret it on their own.

Personally, I think that the effect of the tape will be a wash, although I think it put a drag on our monmentum and we won't win by as big a margin as we would have otherwise.

5. Toast huh?
I believe that it has always been Rove's strategy to keep this election close enough to steal as he did in 2000. Greg Palast, gregpalast.com ,has already uncovered enough information in several swing states to more than suggest that there will be great efforts spent keeping democrats from voting, miscounting or not counting the votes from those who get past the first line of defense, etc.

We get the Government we deserve.

10. Ardee I have been following that too.
but i don't think it is stategy to keep it close. More like plan B

They have been setting up tactics to block the black vote in several swing Bible belt states. But i don't think the American people are going to stand for yet another election theft.

There have been several threads already concerning what would happen if we have yet another repeat of 2000. My best guess is it would be some where in between general rioting to an all out civil war.

and don't think for one minute the Freepers will be calling for John Kerry to conceed the election to avoid violence in the streets

14. I wish I had your faith
in the attention span of the American people....These last four years have provided ample evidence that our electorate prefers testosterone laden thinking to cold careful analysis and research. Most of us will simply shrug our shoulders as they did about the 2000 Florida debacle and subsequent Supreme Court coup resulting in a stolen election.

Jimmy Carter has stated that his election monitering group, which has had many successes in allowing free elections in third world nations, would not be able to moniter US elections as we dont meet basic minimal criteria for free and accurate elections.

that Bush turned down a deal to have Bin Laden turned over to a third country before the invasion of Afghanistan.
I can't get to the archives right now, or I'd post the link.

New offer on Bin Laden

Minister makes secret trip to offer trial in third country

Rory McCarthy in Islamabad
Wednesday October 17, 2001
The Guardian

A senior Taliban minister has offered a last-minute deal to hand over Osama bin Laden during a secret visit to Islamabad, senior sources in Pakistan told the Guardian last night.
For the first time, the Taliban offered to hand over Bin Laden for trial in a country other than the US without asking to see evidence first in return for a halt to the bombing, a source close to Pakistan's military leadership said.

But US officials appear to have dismissed the proposal and are instead hoping to engineer a split within the Taliban leadership.

The offer was brought by Mullah Wakil Ahmed Muttawakil, the Taliban foreign minister and a man who is often regarded as a more moderate figure in the regime.

..more..

In his cocky dipsh_t demeanor Bush blew it there too.

I really think Osama is in Saudi with the help of his family and the knowledge of the Bush administration

13. Bush camp is in serious trouble folks
Look for a total act of desperation to hit on monday.

Terror alert

Start spreading the news to every one on your mailing list, "Terror Alert on Monday"

They have been saving this one last terror alert for the final push. We busted them months ago using terror alerts to keep Bush's poll ratings up months ago.

"Surprise surprise surprise.. Sargent Carter. The terror alerts stopped just like that.....why Gooooooooooollllllllyyyy"

Now here we are in the 11th hour and things are not looking up for them. They got nothing to lose so you guessed it. It will be terrorist with chemical weapons have been reported entering the United States.

Anyone want some odds on that.........
