Was 9/11 an anomaly or can it happen again? |
|
Once Kerry wins, how likely do you think it is that another 9/11 will happen? Was it a once in a lifetime thing where the terrorists got so lucky that they could pull that off on American soil?

I don't think its an anomaly, Our security still isn't great but it may not be airplanes next time. Our chemical storage facilitites are still very vulnerable as are our ports, public transport .

2. It will probably happen again, but much more often under Bush. |

He was President when 9/11 happened after ignoring terrorism for the better part of a year.
We are in much more danger as long as he is President. He has created an army of new terrorists. And I don't mean like Timothy McVeigh, registered Republican and NRA member.

We've stirred up hornet's nests around the world. Made a whold slough of new and determined enemies thanks to the idiotic response to 9/11 in Iraq. Add to that, the sheer ineptitude of our high tech military in controlling a 3rd world nation and a small band of insurgents, those that wish us harm will keep it up until this nation eventually comes to it's senses and realizes that ripping off the rest of the world has consequences.

6. Airport security is still a joke |

Although the passengers might put up more of a fight in a hijacking. Plenty of other targets just sitting there, but it's impossible to secure everything.

--but the terrorists will keep trying.
Remember that 9/11 required no vast resources of wealth, no high technology, no intricate coordination. Any 25 people in the world could have done it. All they needed was a little money, a bit of flying skill, and the readiness to kill themselves.
That, and a lack of vigilance.
We need the Richard Clarke's of the world.

8. Sure, it can happen again. |

I know that's not a very comforting thought. And it's not meant to be.
But to a large extent, we are an open society. Putting in security measures meant to contain terrorism also means curtailing our personal liberties.
It also still would not guarantee an attack-free existance. Anybody determined to make a political point with weaponry will do so.
I'm not of a mind to alter my existance, or give up on a free, peaceful and open society just to hinder terrorists who would strike anyway.
Fuck George and the fuck the patriot act.

9. If President Gore was in the WH on 9/11/2000, there would not have been |

any terrorist attack.
Bu$h Knew.
The only way to prevent terrorist attacks on American soil is to keep republicans out of political office.

very possible...even something like the scenario in that movie "Worst of all fears", (is that the right name?...something like that...)

Anomaly doesnt mean never happens, Anomaly means it is a low probability event. An attack like that is a low probability event. It can happen, it can still happen. The big question is what is the probability of an event like this. What is the actual risk. Because the whole "the world changed after 9/11" thing presupposed(as humans tend to do) that just because something happened that they didnt expect, the probability of it happening changed. The probability didnt change, in fact it went down, because security was increased.

The Busheviks Let It Happen Through Incomptence.
If it happens again during a Kerry administration, it will be early on and due exclusively to the contining Bushevik incompetence.

Terrorists flying planes into the WTC probably won't happen again, even though (I believe?) some of the smaller towers are still stading.
Terrorist attacks in the US will happen again. If Bush is re-installed by whatever means, then I'm guessing within a week or so of him being declared winner.
If Kerry wins, I'm guessing no later than mid-summer, because he won't (or can't) change the US foreign policy of providing military support to middle east nations run by what the jihadists see as "apostates" which is done to ensure cheap access for US corporate plunder of resources.
