2. I'd love someone to explain how gambling oddsmakers make their |
|
determination of odds. I'm well trained in statistics, but there is a black box quality to this, that has never been clear to me....

4. Wow, I can't believe my eyes! FNC has Kerry ahead! |
|
It is pretty amazing that Fox News Channel has Kerry ahead in their poll. Kerry is currently 47 to Bush's 45. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,137191,00.html

9. The line moves according to money wagered |
|
Kerry's odds are growing shorter. More money is being bet on him.
It's called the "smart money".

10. Kerry is favored in Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. |
|
Edited on Sun Oct-31-04 05:26 PM by BillyBunter
He also picks up NH, according to these odds. They have Bush favored in Iowa and New Mexico. Other than that, it's 2000 all over again. So Kerry would pick up 20 (Ohio) and 4 (New Hampshire) EC votes, and lose Iowa (7) and New Mexico (5), for a net gain of 12 EC votes over Gore's total -- enough to win. Too bad I don't know jack about probability theory, as it looks like there's an arbitrage opportunity here.
Edited to correct NM to 5 EC votes.
