Apparently Hummers are only good for a trip to the Mall not War!! |
|
so I am watching 60 minutes and I am disgusted to see that the Hummers our women and men in arms are driving about in are just worthless...no armor protection where it should be...
Today I yelled at a Hummer driver..."Soldiers die to fuel your "car"!!"

I bet he sold it an hour later.
btw, Hummers are not meant to be armored. If they were, they would be, uh armored.
In case where you need armor, you send in armor (sorry to be repetitive)
Hummers basically replaced the old style jeeps.

7. Humvees are armored. Light armor, but they are armored. |
|
A non-armored vehicle is pretty useless in a combat zone.

5. they aren't armored because that's not what they're |
|
intended for. They are just a military car, not an armored vehicle.
Armor is a necessary retrofit because the country is so unsafe there is nowhere you can drive without armor.

I remember them saying how they could be used for all sorts of shit, from gun-mounts to armored personnel carriers to litter carriers, etc. etc. So yes, they were intended from the outset to be used in an armored capacity (among other things)
Me? I preferred the Jeeps. Much easier to keep between the hedges.

If they arent armored, then they don't have armor.
This is not rocket science.
Yes, they CAN BE ARMORED. But thats something that must be done to it....like adding a gun mount

9. Yeah, but there's the rub...they are not outfitting the equipment the way |
|
it needs to be outfitted.
For instance, a C-130 can be configured in several different ways...but you wouldn't send in an electronic countermeasures one to provide close-air support.
They are sending in the Humvees that folks use to run letters on bases in Germany as troop carriers in a war zone, and that is fucked up.

11. plywood and sandbags is what the solds are using... |
|
as improvisation for protection. but the underparts are still just as vulnerable.
but be sure Halliburton is getting every dime (x 10) for their fine overpriced work in Iraq.
