Does anyone think that Kerry will offer a spot to McCain?
Edited on Sun Oct-31-04 08:52 PM by SoCalDem
I sincerely hope he does NOT.. The "olive branch" routine won't wash this time around..

as the repubes say, 9-11 changed everything. In this case the WAY the aftermath of 9-11 was handled, changed everything..

In the light of an imminent attack (to hear repubes talk) they still never found a way to bring the country together. they have been intent on divisive, partisan nonsense from DAY ONE, and 9-11 did not change that one bit...

It is not up to Kerry, on Day One, to reverse it.. As far as I am concerned, the repubes need to attone for their mistakes, and EARN their way back into acceptance.

Kerry should avoid the temptation to play politics-as-usual by having a repube on his staff..

Thirty years+ of one dirty trick after another should have taught us the ultimate lesson. People near the president must be loyal. McCain is not a loyal friend to Kerry.. He is a "situational" friend.

I really liked Mccain and even voted for him in the 2K primaries.. But I no longer have a shred of respect for the man.. he stood up to the Viet Cong, and yet, for Bush, he played Girlie-man..:(

1. Lordy, I hope not.
McCain sold his soul to the BFEE; he should hang his head in shame.

15. me too. McCain is a right wing nut on most issues.
I doubt he'd take a position, anyway, since that would vacate his Senate seat.

supports him now. Mccain won't work for Kerry.

McCain is in the same catagory as Powell - tainted cowards who put their party before their country.

6. I hope not either.
Although McCain seems almost human at times, when he isn't muzzled by the right for local issues and such, he has that goose step locked in when ordered to do so. We liberals don't need that. It would be like inviting a disruptor into DU.

20. Why does Kerry have to select any Repubs?
They are way over their popularity in control as it is. Time to take back our country.

11. As you, I hope not.
There are a few Republicans out there to whom he could offer cabinet positions, but McCain is one I don't want to see. That would, essentially, legitimze all the BS of the last four years, in some ways.

I won't say there are none of them who have behaved like human beings, though I'll just as honestly say no one name comes immediately to mind! I'd imagine he could offer somebody a 'do-no-damage' position without shooting himself in the foot, though. Maybe Olympia Snowe -- for a Republican, she's shown at least a modicum of independence the past few years.

But McCain? Bush*'s lapdog? The guy they smeared in 2000, who's the biggest GOP ass-kisser in their whole ass-kissing troupe of minions? Gods, I hope not.

Kanary
edited to say..... this wasn't a personal jab..... It just brought back all the junk posted about McCain before, and I had hoped that his abyssmal behavior had finally cured people of the illusion that he is suited for the Dems in any way.

22. Hagel's a Repuke sellout
Read up on him.

U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel Now Admits Ownership In Voting Machine Company-- Senate Ethics Committee Director Resigns 1/30/03
On October, 10, 2002 Bev Harris, author of the upcoming "Black Box Voting: Ballot-Tampering" in the 21st Century, revealed that Republican Senator Chuck Hagel has ties to the largest voting machine company, Election Systems & Software (ES&S). She reported that he was an owner, Chairman and CEO of Election Systems & Software (called American Information Systems until name change filed in 1997). ES&S was the ONLY company whose machines counted Hagel's votes when he ran for election in 1996 and 2002. The Hill, a Washington D.C. newspaper that covers the U.S. national political scene, confirmed her findings today and uncovered more details. Seems counterproductive, and frankly I think he would be the ultimate mole for the BFEE.

23. Besides, McCain ridiculed Kerry in one of the late night talk shows
McCain will be 72 in '08, I doubt he will run. Also, McCain has sunk to the level of licking the boot that once kicked him. He has lost all respect. But if it were between him and Guilliani, I would support McCain any day. Guilliani is a total ASSHOLE.

But whoever is their nominee, Kerry should be reelected by a comfortable margin.

The Senate is an issue here, so I would rather he appoint someone like Chafee from a blue state so we can strengthen our Senate position.

32. If John Kerry trusts John McCain
then so do I. They've known and worked with each other for years. I trust Sen. Kerry's judgment on this since I'm obviously not privy to the info. he has at his disposal. I'm not about to assume I know all the facts. Bringing this country back together again has to start somewhere. Whether or not 2005 is the year to begin to do that is up to the new POTUS.
