My girlfriend's uber-republican parents just mentioned something about a possible, and entirely all-too-convenient, pre-election "capture" of Osama bin Laden.
Either way, I couldn't find any information on this subject anywhere; a friend mentioned that he heard something similar on the radio, but it wasn't specified what station.
---------------------------
For the sake of the rest of this post's content, let's play like Osama was really the guy behind the attacks of 9/11, whether we believe it or not:
Apparently, right-wingers don't mind a little reality manipulation and negligence of a terrorist threat in the form of an "October Surprise" as long as it helps their guy to win.
Are people actually going to fall for this transparent ploy if it happens? It's obvious theatre, even to the densest of "barbarians" (as we're apparently called), and I doubt it will sway any of those who have realized that waging a "War on Terror" is tantamount to waging a war against the concept of individuals using death and violence to convey a political or religious message.
Obviously, such extremism would exist whether or not we manage to capture a single cave-dwelling, renally-challenged blowhard like Osama, no matter how much we'd all like to see the man behind 9/11 squirm - as a matter of fact, it may serve only to inspire further attacks.

and they are prohibited from going into Pakistan even if they knew. It's too late, anyway. Game, set, match.

Osama bin Forgotten or Osama bin Patsy? The thin one, the fat one, or the short one with the fake beard?
By the way, did we ever determine that we do, in fact, have Sadam and not his double? I can't recall.

6. Did anybody really think that Bush was gonna get Osama in time |
|
for the election, convince other countries and their forces to keep him for months at great personal risk for the sake of the Bush's reelection campaign, and somehow expect to be able to keep it totally secret that they got the world's most wanted man? I can't believe people actually bought such a wildly implausible conspiracy theory.

7. The election is 1/3 over |
|
Early voting already has 30% of the vote cast in Florida.
Not gonna happen.
The only thing that might still happen is a terror "alert" in Ohio or Pennsylvania on Tuesday to delay the vote...

8. I doubt most Americans are that stupid. |

A day before the election? That's more than a little suspicious.
