TCO Jr. has been stealing B/C 04 signs
I found a stack of at least 20 in the trash tonight. I asked him about this but received no reply.

He is kind of passionate about this election.

5. That's the right thing?
It's never the right thing to suppress freedom of speech. Let's not turn into the very thugs we're trying to get rid of.

18. Sorry, but theft of any kind is just wrong.
Otherwise we have no basis to complain then those assholes steal OUR Kerry/Edwards signs.

19. I think it's a load of shit.....just the sort of thing the young
Republican fascists would pull....you know because they are cowardly and lack the intellect to confront those they disagree with in a productive or at the very least, honest fashion.

4. This is just as outrageous
as the idiots who steal the Kerry/Edwards signs.

Rip him a new one, and tell him to return them.

8. well? you've got some options . . .
1.) Do nothing and implicitly tell your child that the act is okay; or
2.) Do something thereby telling your child that the act is not okay.

I'd opt for the second choice. Why? Well, to quote Voltaire, "I may not like what you say, but I shall defend to the death your right to say it," you are telling your child that he should respect the free speech (political yard-signs) of others in order to retain the free speech of all including himself.

Yup, I'd definitely take the high road.

you can't steal another's opinion. We're the good guys; we just don't play those kinds of games.

11. sorry, cannot condone this
I live in republican hell and I have never even thought about stealing or defacing a BC sign - it's not right, that is someone else's PROPERTY. Now giving those owners THE FINGER is a different story. :D

13. Sounds like a good opportunity to teach him a lesson in honesty.
I'd supervise his return of the signs to every house he'd stolen them from and make sure he went up to the door and personally handed them back to the owners.
This is one issue I'm DEFINTITELY a "high-road" advocate about.

22. Sorry, I have to agree. There is no gray area here.
High road or no road. What he did was wrong and you as parent are responsible. Would you go steal the signs? Return them ASAP with apologies.

14. Take him aside and firmly tell him :

"Son, this cannot go unpunished. If it happens again, there'll be no glazed beets with your dinner for a month."

( ... and furthermore ... )

"And if you mess with their Congressional candidates, there'll be no beets for two months!"

15. this is a good day for setting good examples for republicans. surely
many of them are looking for new examples.

maybe add something teaching that becoming a fascist to fight fascism is pointless: y'know, why fight it anymore then?

there are worthy civil disobediences. they must be effective, though. can't waste those risks.

20. Take the high road.
theft is theft, period.
If he can remember where he got them, have him return them, with a note apologizing.
What sort of person allows his kids to break the law?
We know the answer to that one, don't we?

25. stealing
we're all horrified by bush-bot thinking. we should reject any action that goes against our principles of truth and honesty. If we use their tactics we become them.
