I've been freaking out about the news everyday for too long now. My girlfriend and I both decided it would be in everyone's best interest to not pay attention to the news, the internet, or anything else for the day (because it's halloween and all).

So.

Now she's sleeping.

Brief me, please.

Here's a few of the important questions I need answered:

What are the important things that happened today in Iraq?

What are the big polls that were released today (or late last night)?
(And what did they say?)

How are the battlegrounds trending?

Just tell me the important shite that happened today.

WASHINGTON ()'s LOST. So...Does...Bush...

I may be a tish drunk. But nevertheless.

Gimme a briefing, DU-style. Please. ;)

3. Here's the plan...
#1) Don't fret over the polls
#2) Sign up for and do some calling at http://www.votercall.org/gotv/
#3) Make sure your fridge is well stocked
#4) Make sure you also do whatever you can to promote and encourage voting of your local Democratic candidates (put up signs at polling place and in highly visible areas, hand out flyers, make phone calls, etc.)
#5) Breathe, relax, have a beer or two or three or more
#6) Be prepared to get actively involved in you local Democratic organization after November 2nd and DO IT!!!

Confession: I've had a few too! :)

8. Well, hubby and I have our game plan set up for the next 2 days
He's taking off to be home about 1pm tomorrow. I'll be canvassing as much as I can in our precinct for our locals and Kerry. Then, when he gets home we'll finish the rest of it.

I canvassed the adjacent precinct yesterday with a local candidate. Actually, I was sort of pissed off at the guy that he only wanted to stick the info in the doors and not KNOCK on them...so, rebel that I am, I went ahead and knocked. Go figure! I KNOCKED on the doors that had Kerry/Edwards signs, thanked them for their support, encouraged support of our local candidates...and guess what?! These people wanted to talked about it! I came back with people who are willing, able, and MOTIVATED to get involved with the Democratic organization! Giving time and money! DUH!!! What you have to understand about this is that I live in what is known as "the most Republican County in AMERICA!" In fact, one couple I talked with will be voting on Tuesday then going to Wisconsin to immediately after to GOTV! (*made note on my list*)

(Back on track here)...After Hubby gets home and we finish the canvassing, we'll be making the phone calls to our list of ten from the votercall list. We don't have long distance, so we'll need to pick up a LD phone card, but we'll do it. Then, we're off to training for poll watching on Tuesday.

He's taking Tuesday off...poll watching, both him and me. Then, off to the Hilton to meet up with our local organization for poll results and celebrations.

Wednesday...sleeping in, celebrating, and getting the game plan ready for grass roots.

It won't be over on November 3rd. (Think globally, ACT LOCALLY) Whether by some fluke Bush wins (BBV...), we cannot afford to move out of the country. We're going to have to stick it out and fight harder than we have ever fought for anything. And it's for our kids and the future, not us. So we will!

BTW, Thanks to YOU!!! Thank you for fighting and working and believing. Thank YOU for your involvement and caring and compassion! Thank YOU for helping to build a sound future for my children, grandchildren (hopefully), and yours. :)

9. You make me happy. :)
That sounds GREAT. It sounds like you are going to have a fun (but very busy) few days. I'm going to do all that I can, and it fuels my fire when I hear of how important this is to others.

For me, I think the most disheartening things that have happened in the last six months had nothing to do with polling numbers, or anything of the sort. The thing that would take away from my belief was when people would be flippant about how little they gave a shit about this election (or any election, for that matter).

Every person I hear express a deeply felt motivation for participating, learning, and expressing opinion in the political process adds a little more fuel to my fire.

Thank YOU.

6. You're jonesin' . . .
Swear off your news consumption for your girlfriend, and then come sneakin' to your DU friends for a fix. :D You've come to the right place!

Here's the news: The future ex-president is still a wingnut hellbent on winning the election by hook and/or crook, and the future president is still fighting the good fight.
