These appeared in today's newspaper:

• Any mother of a 3-year-old can tell you the difference between strength and stubbornness. And let me tell you, all the moms I know are voting for Kerry.

• Like me, Kerry loved his country enough to volunteer, to risk his life, to do his patriotic duty. Bush and Cheney didn't. It's the veterans voting Republican who have some explaining to do.

• Interpreting signs from God is tricky business, but there's no indication She's trying to help Bush.

• If Bush is really touched by the hand of God, then God must be a rich white man from Texas.

• The zinger asked, "How can a Christian or a veteran vote for John Kerry?" Actually, I found it very simple; I just filled in the bubble on my absentee ballot.

• Bush's war in Iraq should be featured on the History Channel's "World's Greatest Military Blunders."

• Our enemies want Bush to be president because an America without allies is a much weaker country.

• If you like budget deficits, you'll love George Bush's second term.
