Brian Ross story on GMA re: Kerry/Edwards supporters get booted
from a Bush campaign speech...
Did anyone just see this...around 7:45 am PST this morning?

Brian Ross did a story on Kerry/Edwards teeshirt
wearing supporters who tried to get into
one of the Bush campaign speeches and were
shown led away by police. I just caught the
tail end of it, don't know where it was, but
as we all know, these appearances by Bush
have been ticket only, with one's full information
given, including signing an endorsement of Bush/Cheney.
Brian reported that these appearances are supported
by taxpayer monies by police (and who knows what
else...) The Bushies called these "private affairs".

Diane Sawyer's awful response to the story is
she hopes we all lighten up by Wednesday.

Give her a call, e-mail her....Tell her we'll
lighten up when we have a democracy back.

Here's an e-mail address I found for contacting
GMA: if you have something better and or a phone
number, please post it. Thanks.

5. Dear Diane,
"Lightening up" is the problem. Our democracy is being stolen while you and your cohorts yuk it up every morning, obsessing over the latest developments on Survivor, Bachelor/Bachelorette, or Paris Hilton. I can only stand to watch the first few minutes of your show. I shut it off after the major news headlines are done. Sometimes I don't even make it that far, if you and Charlie are in full simper mode.

I know for the last few months the events of the campaigns have forced you to talk about politics every day and that must really be a drag for you. My only advice is, suck it up and deal with it.

2. I saw it
The story was about journalists who donned Kerry t-shirts at Bush rallies and Bush shirts at Kerry rallies, in order to record what would happen. At the Bush rally they were lead away by the police. At the Kerry rally, Kerry supporters formed a circle and danced around them to block them from sight. :) I think they were eventually asked to leave too. In both incidents, there were some words.

3. Clue to pundits: we aren't getting over it, we won't lighten up
and we won't surrender, til we get our country
back.

At an Oct. 21 Kerry rally in Minneapolis, ABC news producers were surrounded and followed by a team of dancing Kerry campaign workers with large signs, effectively obstructing the Bush-Cheney T-shirts from the view of the national press.

"My job tonight was to run interference so that we didn't have any negative situation on our hands," said a female Kerry campaign volunteer. "Our job was to stand in front of them and make sure that, number one, that press had access to Kerry stuff and not necessarily Bush."

The Bush campaign was even more aggressive in its response to the opposing party's T-shirts.

When ABC News volunteers Matt Walter and Sherrie Varpula tried to attend an Oct. 23 Bush rally at Space Coast Stadium in Melbourne, Fla., they were told by event volunteers the Kerry-Edwards T-shirts they were wearing would cause them not to be admitted.

8. ABC's conclusion? Both are equally bad.
