Political obituary of George W. Bush
I think we can be pretty confident that John F. Kerry will win the election tomorrow. This will begin several processes -- George W. Bush packing for a return trip to Crawford, Texas, where he can uninterruptedly "cut brush," a transition of power in Washington -- and the inevitable summing up by major, minor and alternative media of the presidency of George W. Bush.

With Bush on his way out, we can expect even the major media to begin exercising more candor than it has in the past. There is little a lame duck president can do to cow and intimidate the media.

How to you expect the media to summarize the "Bush presidency." Each presidency has had its created "theme" -- Clinton's not living up to his expecations, Reagan's simple optimism and achievements in his first term collapsing into scandal in the second term, etc.

How do you think media will "construct" and write the political obituary of George W. Bush?

3. He bet his Presidency on Iraq, and Lost...................
The media will go with that tack. When Iraq started, they were already saying it.

5. Unfortunately, in the short term you may be right
that the angle will be that he bet on a "democratic" Iraq and lost rather than on the long list of incompetencies and the pure venality and evil and self-aggrandizing greed that led to the Iraq invasion.

6. Lincoln summed up Smirky's short-lived career some time ago.
He was very prophetic when he said ......

"You can bullshit some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you can't bullshit all of the people all of the time, no matter what that asshole Rove might tell you."

It'll be fascinating to watch the fighting inside the GOP as they (hopefully) exorcise their fundamentalist, neocon, and imperialist demons.

Who knows? We might actually get back to a point where Pat Buchanan is the voice of the far-right. Ah, to dream.

11. OK let's put it this way ...failed presidency cliche?
Which major media outlet will be the first to describe the Bush presidency as a "the failed failed presidency of George W. Bush"? And who will be the first non-left media outlet to call it the "disastrously failed presidency"?
