Yesterday at the Kerry rally in Manchester...
We returned to the parking garage, and I could swear someone took a picture of my friend's license plate. It wasn't the only picture he took. He was with a young child walking around taking pictures. What's strange is that she didn't have her usual car with all the bumper stickers. She had the old van for the 7 of us that went to the rally. Because we came from Mass, there were out of state plates, but that would be the only thing that might tip someone off that we were there for the rally. By the time we got close enough to the van, he was already walking away, and I didn't want to go around shouting in a garage, but I wish I had had the nerve to ask him what he was doing. Any clues?

1. It's a form of intimidation...
During the civil rights movement, white supremacists did the same thing to out-of-staters.

Best thing to do is to ignore the idiots. The more time he spends running around with his camera doing stupid shit like this, the less time he has to help Republicans get to the polls.

2. Nope, but I had a similar experience in a camp ground
Edited on Mon Nov-01-04 04:07 PM by Marianne
with my travel van. A man and a small little girl, came into our camp space(something which is usually respected unless invited in) came within a foot of our van, passed by the entire length, pretending to go to the brook behind us to do something. They did not come back the same way. I later found out, from his three hundred pound wife, that they are very active in the Neighborhood Watch thing or whatever you call it, and she described to me all of the things they do in New Mexico to discover anything that looks out of place in their neighborhood. She said they used bicycles to patrol the neighborhood--which made me inwardly smile as I pictured her riding a bicycle.

Might be the van.

3. I saw a guy with a video camera yesterday in Manchester
that didn't look sympathetic to our cause. No B/C stickers, but there was a look of disgust/horror on his face.

6. If you ever saw my skinny Italian husband...
You would know better than to make a suggestion like that. As it was, the loud mouthed republicans were one one side of the street yelling, and the Dem's were across the street yelling even louder (I loved it!). My husband, who was driving, rolled down the window to make a smart-ass comment about Halliburton to the idiots when all of a sudden the light changed and we were stuck there. All we could do was laugh at my tough guy hubby! It was a memorable day, even though we never actually made it in to see our next president in person.
