AP sole vote counter for the press, does this worry anyone?

Considering that the AP has a big tendency to whore for the Bushbots, I am a little worried and I do not trust them!

Any safeguards on this?

1. every candidate will have someone in every SOE office

Supervisor of Elections offices on election night are happening places. Every candidate will have someone there phoning the results into their headquarters.

Of course, if there is a mistake in the counting, like in Florida (Volusia county?) in 2000, then the campaigns might have wrong info, but that would happen whether all the news organization have their own staff or not.

AP feeding the results to the press doesn't bother me.

I think any check on the voting process is good. We need exit polling, so if Diebold tries to do too much, people will compare the results and say "WTF?!"
