for god's sake, let's get someone from a safe state this time who can actually oppose in his duties opposition leader

my pick would be dick durbin, followed by mikulski, and then leahy

too corporatist
voted for the war, bankruptcy bill, patriot act, and more--and too polarizing with much baggage
---at least those are my reasons, but she would be better than daschle, who i think is the epitome of the pre-dean democratic party

besides, she's already prominant-we need someone else to get more faces on our message

17. It needs repeating..... HILLARY is Too CORPORATIST.
IT's time to get over it, and realize we need stronger leaders!

The Clinton's made their choices for corporate power, and they need to be passed by.

There are many more very good people who are quite capable of doing a great job of Senate leader.

5. I don't care as long as they are from a safe state
I'm tired of our leaders caving and playing appeasers so they won't piss off anyone in their home states and risk losing the next time around.

6. Even if Daschle prevails in his race, he should GO...
... as leader. He's been totally ineffectual. A fucking pink tutu Democrat who has done little but bend over and say "may I have another, Mr. Rove." Pitiful.

later.

We need to have the Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party fighting for us - not just standing there smiling for us.

Even though he hasn't been around that long, he certainly is somebody that has challenged the Bush admin.

31. Remember folks this isnt a figurehead position.
Edited on Mon Nov-01-04 11:43 PM by K-W
This is a functional legislative position, I'm not saying that these people arent able, I'm sure they are, but there are some people you want out and about talking rather than sitting in backrooms negotiating votes.

You want someone who is very skilled with procedure and dealmaking. But it certainly doesnt hurt if they have other positive qualities.

And remember that the person in this position has to worry about their function and wont have alot of time to be a vocal outsider.

i saw ann colter on the bill mahar show last friday night, i was in the studio audience. the producer told us we were not allowed to boo ann colter. he said they wouldn't be able to get her back as a guest if we booed her and he forbade us to, but i was hoping she'd never appear in public anywhere ever again, so i booed her vigorously anyway!
