Is it just me or is Kerry a pessimist?

I say this with all due respect to Kerry supporters (yes, they are good people) and to the Senator himself.

I caught Kerry on Meet the Press saying something like, "This is a dangerous world we live in." I've heard him im the past talk about how "these are difficult times we're living in," or something like that, and about how "we have a lot of work to do."

I personally believe that campaigns should be optimistic and should focus on the future. Yes, all of the above examples are true, but we all know that. We don't need to be told that. In fact, it's in times like these when Americans most need to hear something positive.

Again, I certainly hope I am not offending anyone in the Kerry camp.

2. I feel the same way about him giving off

pessimist vibes. He always looks like he expects doom at any moment. I can never really listen to him because I'm in that camp of "stuck with voting for whoever the democratic candidate is", so I'm waiting you all to choose the one. Don't get me wrong, there are some that I hope don't get there, but the bottom line for me is, I have to vote democratic.

But since you brought it up a dreadful thought did occur to me. What if his real acceptability is due to the fact that he has that kind of face and look of someone trying to explain some fateful tragedy to a grieving nation. Scary thought, hunh.

I appologize to Kerry supporters, I'm not trying to bash him. He just always seems to me like he's explaining away something, even things he should be complaining about. But then again, as I said, I never really listen to him when he talks because I expect the low key approach, and that's what he gives.

15. Those Tax Cuts caused your

payroll taxes, property taxes, etc. to go up because of those tax cuts, the underfunded Homeland Security, and the underfunded leave no child behind act. Your families federal taxes won't go up by 20 times, you must be looking at the proposed White House numbers but taxes will go up because Bush left us in this horrible mess, we must never vote on a borrow and spend republican again. It is best to repeal all the tax cuts and start again from scratch, if you want a tax cut George Bush is your man.

14. Kerry is a good guy

I think Kerry has a saturnine quality which is just part of his personality. I like that he says upfront stuff, not shielding Americans from the fact that things are dangerous now in many ways. Also, who knows, he might be worried about Dean's huge lead right now. cuz yeah, that's somethin' to worry about.
But in response to the post, no I actually don't find him pessimistic, and think he would be a really great president should he win the primaries.

17. Not more pessimistic than Dean

Dean exemplifies the critism of democrats that they complain more than they offer alternatives and solutions.

He exascerbates almost every broadstroke critism of democrats that lose elections

18. He does believe in accomplishing the mission

We went into Iraq in 1991 and since troops were sent to do that, he does seem to believe in finishing the mission they were sent to accomplish, even though he disagreed with it. But if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. I think that's part of his view on Iraq now. Definitely Afghanistan. He was very upset about the military choices that allow bin laden to slip out of Aghanistan. So I wouldn't expect him to back down from terrorists or pretend they aren't out there. He doesn't see it as totally a military action either, he sees the need to be a different kind of America to countries around the world.

But there is also the spiritual and playful side of Kerry. I hope we get to see more of that. And his vision for a more just and equal world. Here's a link to a speech on immigration to give you more of that side of John Kerry.
