Attention Californians: Democratic contenders, |
|
Edited on Sun Aug-31-03 10:04 PM by mitchtv
Willie brown , the mayor of San Francisco, forsees the first week of October as a giant democratic whistlestop tour of California , By the Clintons, and all the presidential hopefulls. ( An idea, i believe , gleaned from this very website) It would suck the air out of the gop coup attempt, in the last crucial week of the recall campaign. Do you have an email address of your candidate? will you contact him/her? will you post that address here so that others can write?. There is little time. Willie is emerging as the leader in California of those of us opposing the hostile takeover, of the government.

6. the Clintons are expected |
|
the media is busy ridiculing them. tell your candidates they are needed , and they will be rewarded at the primary. Personal presidential hopes need to go on the back burner. This one is for California

Willie Brown is the original "Slick Willy". He was a crook as the Assembly Speaker and continues to be as Mayor of SF. Favors for contributions.

8. Hey, if he can help things now, that's all I care about. |
|
He's on his way out. Vote for Carol Migden for state senate and not Brown (if you live there) and it won't be an issue. But he was effective for the party as speaker and has a role to play. I welcome that.

20. I love it when people bring that up about Willie |
|
He knew how to reach consensus withouttrading the whole platform away like some newer Dems. He was SHREWD and knew how to win.
I worked for him back then....cll him whatever you want but some of the best environmental legislation and labor legislation came out of his tenure as majority leader. He knew how to keep insurance companies in check.
Slam away but today's Dems could learn a thing or two from Willie.

9. Each of nine has a role, as well as the Clintons and Feinstein. |
|
We need them all. Not just yet, but toward the end. Jesse Jackson has a role. I would LOVE if Ted Kennedy would publicy urge NO on recall, though I doubt he'll comment on Arnie.

12. I've tried with the Dean campaign. |
|
As of a couple of weeks ago, they refuse to comment on the recall -- HUGE mistake! However, the good Gov. will be here in September and I'm HOPING he'll bring it up then.
California Dean supporters can call or e-mail Vermont -- the contact information is on the www.DeanforAmerica.com website.
The California Rep. from Vermont is Aaron Holmes. I've sent him several e-mails on various topics but have never gotten a response. I urge other Californians to e-mail Aaron (aholmes@deanforamerica.com) AND the campaign to urge the Gov. to speak out against the recall.

I hope it helps. I felt a little sorry for Maria Shriver, but only for a minute. I hit the sleazebag angle. I know some people here to not agree with that an an issue...but many women will, liberal and conservative alike.

18. I'm not a fan of Maria's, but I agree with you to a point. |
|
However, I think of what Chelsea Clinton had to go through with Monicagate and none of the instigators cared about what she was going through. I guess Maria is going to have to put earmuffs and blinkers on her children and tough it out.
I think this is why she is the reluctant political wife to begin with. She has to know about Arnold, even if it is because he has confessed all to her. She no doubt wanted to protect her children from the bad press. I guess Arnold doesn't give a sh*t, which says a lot about his character right there.
