I voted at 6AM.
I woke up this morning almost as soon as the place opened and went and voted. I road with my mother and father who picked me up then dropped me back off on the way to get my Grandmother and take her to vote.

Outside the polling place there were TONS of Bush/Cheney '04 Signs and lots of Forbes signs... and two John Kerry signs. Was kinda depressing. I was the 56th person voting this time early this morning; keeping in mind that I was 90 something last time, which was late in the evening. The mood at the polling place was upbeat. They said they had 20 Absent Ballots -- which is a HUGE amount for our Polling Place.

My Father voted for Bush, I voted for Kerry, and my Mother won't tell us who she voted for and didn't even make up her mind until she closed the curtain. My Grandmother, at least, is voting for Kerry. I live in Virginia so it's likely to go for Bush, but even so... people are turning out in record numbers -- I just hope it's more for our side than theirs. I'm also glad that I know of at least one other person who didn't sell their soul this morning. ;) Of course my Grandmother would vote for Satan himself as long as he had the (D) next to his name. :P

3. Yeah, I feel good.
I'm just hoping turn out is better for our side than theirs. It's all about GOTV efforts now. I'm nervous, but pleased that I at least made it long enough to vote, that my Grandmother made it long enough to vote, and that we'll both hopefully make it long enough to hear the election results. Or at least get a good idea who won. I'm hoping for something strange happening -- Kerry winning by a landslide because of turn out and having the pundits and pollsters all wrong. Not likely to happen, but I don't care what happens -- as long as Kerry wins.

2. Virginia is going blue if Northern VA has anything to do with it.
I was in a long line too at my precinct. I saw the B/C volunteer, but ours hadn't arrived yet. I was supposed to volunteer later in the day. However we have had Kerry/Edwards signs up and down the block for some time.

4. Southern Va here.
I've mostly only seen Bush/Cheney signs around here and even up toward Richmond. Depressing, but if some how Northern Va manages to "Kerry" us ( :P ) then Bush is screwed.

5. I am in Northern VA (Ashburn)
.. and at my voting place at 5:45 there were about 300 people in line.

* signs everywhere :puke: and one Kerry/Edwards :toast: . At least I had something to lean on while waiting in line.

6. Yeah, I know how you feel.
There were about 6 or 7 people in line ahead of me. Every time I've voted in the past I've been able to just walk up and vote with no waiting.

The signs were the same here. Bush/Cheney signs everywhere -- I feel sorry for the Tree that had to die to make that sign -- and only two Kerry/Edwards signs but they were lost in a sea of Bush signs. :/

13. Sigh. I used to live in Loudoun
and my kids went to school in Ashburn.

I'm glad to see that it looks good in No. Va. for Kerry, because when I voted four years ago, I felt like a minority in that little community center in Aldie!

I just voted in Aldie, plus used their tiny little post office. It was as big as my master bathroom, but there was never a line :)

8. I got there at 0645 and there were already 42 people in line
Took about an hour, and folks were being very nice and easygoing (IN FLORIDA!!!!!).

I drove by another polling place on the way home, and I couldn't see the line but there was a parking lot full of cars (say, 150 or so) plus another 70 cars parked outside along the road and into a neighborhood across the street!

WOOT!

10. I'm in Florida ...
... and voted a couple of weeks ago. This morning my polling place seemed pretty crowded as I drove past. At least the parking lot was hopping. The entrance to the building where we vote is not visible from the road, but based on past experience, I'm sure the place was full of voters of both persuasions. Just as many Kerry signs as * signs, and one * sign waver.

9. Same Here
I was standing in line when the polls closed. We have a pretty high level of civic responsibility in our town. In 2000, 82% of registered voters did so! Today, i got there at 7 minutes to 6 and i was 14th in line!

Good for my little town.

11. I was in line by 6:30
There was a large turnout already for my precinct. Kerry/Edwards should win my precinct, it's near the college. Also my job involves driving around the town quite a bit and I have seen more Kerry/Edwards signs than those for the shrub.

12. My First Post!
My first post ever, and I wanted to let those out there know (even though I'm in NJ -- don't worry about it, we're blue all the way)...

Both my mother and father were on the fence until last night, when my brother (after trying twice previously) got them to sit down and watch 9/11 from start to finish. They were both leaning toward Kerry, but that put them both over the top. FYI, my father is a Vietnam vet, and just sees too many parallels b/t Iraq and Nam - - "Bush is such a moron. We have to get those poor kids out of there."

As for my in-laws (also in NJ), who, amazingly, are Evangelical Christians and were on the fence, they got pushed over to the Kerry side on Friday, when, at dinner, they received a recorded phone call from Laura Bush. My mother-in-law was fuming about it, as was my father-in-law, b/c they are on the national do not call list, and are not registered (R), and don't give money to the (R) party. They got pushed over to Kerry after that b/c they told me, "If Bush can just ignore the do not call list, imagine what else he might try and pull." Hey, whatever works to get the light bulb to go off...

Kerry is going to win. Absolutely, positively no doubt about it.

17. My Dad and Mom...
My Dad was voting for Bush more just to spite me than anything else (because I was damn vocal about how much I hated the guy), and my Mom I think she probably pulled the lever for Kerry -- she hates Bush too. She hates everything about the man, but in her words "is afraid of changing Presidents during Wartime." I think I swayed her though. I got her to watch both F9/11 and Bowling for Colimbine. Got my Dad to watch F9/11 too, who knows... He might have voted for Kerry and is just lying to spite me. (Wouldn't put it past him.)

Although as we were riding back I laughed and said "At least I know two people who haven't sold their souls today." (My Grandmother and Myself.) My Dad grinned, my Mother remained quiet and refused to tell anyone who she voted for. So I teased her and told her "That's just a sign that your guilty." :P Then I told her next time we go vote I'm going behind the curtain with her to make sure she pulls the levers the way I tell her too, to which she simply smirked almost seeming amused at the thought.
