who wrote MINIX (the OS probably inspired Linus Torvalds to come up with Linux). He's a US citizen living abroad (professor at a university in the Netherlands).

He is the creator or Minix, in a sense a precursor to Linux, and an out of country computer science professor (chair of department) at Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
