Does Missouri Still Have a Chance for Kerry?
I notice that we are marked "red" everywhere. I thought that we had a chance here but now am not so sure.

1. Hard to say
The polls seem to go mostly toward Bush, but a few show Kerry at least close.

The voter turnout seems pretty high in the St. Louis area, so hopefully that's a good sign.

I wouldn't write us off completely, but don't hold your breath, either.

2. YES, MISSOURI IS GOING FOR KERRY!
Please don't buy the spin that Missouri is out of play. We pulled back to dead even in the polls two weeks ago, and with all of the hard work done since then, and a HEAVY voter turn out, we're going to deliver for Kerry.

The 'Pugs in the media are trying to get out the meme that we're a lock for Bush, don't buy the spin. Missouri is going blue this year.

Not only the Dem. party but also Moveon and ACT are very active. Union groups running ads against bush on tv. I think it will be close.

4. I'd like to say "yes"
... but that's not likely. The last round of polls had McCaskill down by 8 to Matt Blunt, despite his remarkable passing resemblance to Scott Peterson. I think Kerry was down by 5 in the same poll.

But hey, we've got all day to shuck off the red paint and dye ourselves blue. VOTE!

6. Please friend, what polls are you looking at?
Every poll I've seen for the past month has the gubenitorial race a dead heat. Every major paper in the state is endoring McCaskill, and she has handily outspent Blunt.

Starting two weeks ago, and as of last night, the major reputable polls had Kerry/Bush dead even.

Don't buy the spin, we're going blue.

19. A poll reported by
KSDK Channel 5 in St. Louis (done in conjunction with some other group) and reported yesterday, I think, had Blunt up with a solid lead.

24. Interesting friend,
For all of the polls I've seen, newspaper(including the Star and Post Dispatch) have all called it a dead heat, the TV station in Mid Mo are calling it a dead heat(in conjunction with Survey USA), and all other indications are that it is deadlocked. I don't know what's up with KSDK, but I think that they are off base on this one.

5. Absolutely ....
I will bet that EVERY state the AWOL does not have a 5% lead in the polls will fall to Kerry.

Do you hear that? We will take ALL of the states that are leaning AWOL.

Cheers

7. Headlines tonight: Dems came out
That's what's happening everywhere, We'll turn this state blue. There are stealth voters here, the overlooked and uncounted, first time voters, inactive voters, who are still on the rolls.
I think that when the dust settles Missouri along with the of the country will be Blue.

9. I agree....
Don't give up on Missouri just yet.....

This is the "Show me" state after all.

Missouri Should have been blue in 2000, there is a lot of awareness being paid to their shananigans since then, couple that with massive turn out and GOTV efforts (I see good turn out already) there is a good chance of us being the sleeper in this race.

8. I'm Feeling Blue
I've talked to several people who waiting in line for over an hour in St. Louis. I think Kerry could take it.

I talked to someone with the Farmer campaign and they said that if Kerry wins Missouri she'll win but if Kerry loses MO she may lose by 10 points...

21. Too late now.
Did you ever see the video of Bond when he was looped on a plane? He got real nasty with the stewardess. Clever passenger filmed it all. An alcoholic senator on a plane abusing women defines the term strength. Shows his real strength even though this is an old story.

Bond is a self righteous bigot. Other Democrats out there don't make this mistake.

I should have come out here and asked people about him.

Its just that Farmer just doesn't seem like someone who would get heard for Missourians.

33. I once voted for Jack Danforth (Republican) for Senator.
I could not stand the Democrat. Jerry Litton won the Democratic Primary. Those of us in Missouri who heard him knew someday he would become President. Mr. Litton died in a plane crash the night of the Primary.

When I face my maker I will call this my greatest sin.

Jack Danforth went on to give us Clarence Thomas.

11. Does St. Louis have a better chance than Kansas City
for going for Kerry? So many people in KC are so conservative. But it is true that there a lot of invisible Democrats here. And they are turning out today like never before. They feel like its too important not to vote.

15. St Louis will be overwhelming Kerry...
When I took a couple of family members to the poll this morning, there was an exiting pub, who asked the dem campaign worker passing out sample ballots why there wasn't a republican person out there.

She said it was not her concern, I told him that it was because they don't care about or want his vote.

He then just slinked away.

39. Last week's Post-Dispatch poll had Kerry 2 points better in KC
than St. Louis.

My feeling is that both metro's have the same left/right breakdown, but
the wealthiest KC suburbs are in Kansas, while the wealthiest St. Louis
suburbs are in Missouri, so statewide, KC votes more progressive.

14. Possibly - but if so, it'll likely be close
My wife and I took a 3-day weekend down to St. Genevieve and the wine country around Rolla, taking lots of back roads and scenic routes. Not surprisingly, in most of the small towns, B/C signs outnumbered K/E by about 2-1.

However (if signs are a valid indicator), Claire McCaskill still has a lot of support in rural and small-town MO, which might provide a bit of spillover.

The big thing is going to be turnout. If the Dems absolutely clean up in St. Louis City, St. Louis County and Jackson County (i.e. 80-90,000-vote leads), then Kerry definitely has a shot.

Failing huge turnout, I don't know . . . awful lot of Thumpers taking up space in this lovely state.

at my polling place they had their system for moving voters in and out but because there were so many...it was getting a little screwed up...but it was early and maybe they were just tired.
