Poll question: Who do you WANT the GOP to run in 2008?
Edited on Tue Nov-02-04 01:31 PM by alonso_quijano
Really, we could beat any of them! It's an embarassment of riches! But who do you want President John F. Kerry to beat in his second presidential landslide?

2. Jeb.
Apparently, given the level of reporting by the media, this is the only way to get the story of Florida's elections on newspapers, TV, and radio for the months it would take to explain the whole thing.

10. MacCain
He is the best of the republican lot. I wonder how he feels being
surrounded by a party of human gutter trash. I used to think he
was a vietnam hero, but now with his bush-chicken support, i wonder.

12. I think he'll be too old by then anyway
He'll be in his seventies by then. He's got recurring health problems that aren't discussed much but would be problematic for him.

14. For sheer entertainment value
I'd dearly love to see Alan Keyes win the Republican nomination. Ain't gonna happen, though - my bets are on either Frist or Bush again, if the Republican congress manages to smear Kerry.

They'll likely save whatever big guns they have until 2012, unless the shelf-life is beginning to expire, like on McCain.

16. Jeb.
If only to see the once-vaunted Bush "dynasty" totally eliminated in two world championship bouts where loss precludes any chance of another title shot. (Sorry for the boxing metaphor...I got carried away)

21. I'm hoping for a strong Left from here on.
If I were the GOP -- and forbid it, Almighty God -- I suppose I would want a sentient being to be nominated, unlike the last several GOP nominees.

Olympia Snowe is a class act. So is Lincoln Chaffee. I think the GOP would be better off by far to allow more moderate heads to prevail instead of the right-wing kooks who have been railroading it recentlly.

But I would rather Kerry-Edwards have a strong, progressive first term, leading to re-election.

It would be nice if the party fragmented to the point that Kerry/Edwards run unopposed. I can dream......
