Serious Question about women who hate Teresa... |
|
...for being outspoken and smart.
What is the deal with that?
Internalized misogyny?

You know, so they hate to see another woman doing it? I don't know. Beats me.

But I convinced her that compared to a Communist First Lady, having a Fascist President was far worse. ;)

who has worked with other women. I can tell you women are absolutely the worst against other women, especially those perceived to be more assertive, intelligent and well-spoken.
I think it is an internalized reflection of failed accomplishments and, perhaps, still some feeling of having to fit some model of feminine ideal (i.e., subordinate, quiet, etc.). I've seen this even in well-educated women, but they somehow have this notion that women should mind what they say, they should be "feminine" (whatever that means), etc.
I'd rather work with a pack of horny men than with a bunch of women.

They are just as catty to each other as women are. I'm spared from the competition so its better for me in that sense.

good and just as bad as women as a group. Some individuals are great; some are not.
We all live in a sexist culture and some people of both genders act accordingly while others struggle not to.

23. More "drama" in a female work environment |
|
The couple places I've worked where females were dominant there tended to be a lot more "drama". Sorry, that's just my own personal opinion. As for Teresa, she rocks. I think conservatives, both male and female, just hate seeing a strong woman who is her own person and not your typical subservient little wife, aka Laura Bush. Man that lady and her plastic smile creeps me out.

16. Not my experience at all |
|
and I've worked with women and men for over 30 years. We women are supportive of each other and friends as well as co-workers. The catty label just doesn't apply; that's something men have put on us. The people who resent Teresa just resent her politics. It's that simple. If she switched sides, she'd be beloved. Look at Elizabeth Dole: homewrecker who committed adultery with Bob. Now the born-again darling of the right. It's the politics. Hillary would be the first Republican Senator...if she wasn't a Democrat. It's not her. It's her affiliation. They'd love to have her on their side.

I've worked with (and under) men and women and given the choice I'd work with men any day of the week - too much passice aggression with women - if a bloke is pissed off at you'll most of the time he'll just tell you.
as for Theresa Kerry I'd say she mostly gets hated by freeps and other repugs - she could be the incarnation of Mother Theresa and they'd still hate her

18. I've had the same experience |
|
Women tend to eat their own. I found this out during the Mike Tyson rape trial (early 90s, I believe). The women of color in my workplace were all absolutely vicious to his victim -- she went in the room with him, she was asking for it, etc. etc.
I was astonished. But, since then, I've seen if over and over again. Look at women's reaction to Hillary.
Some women (DUers excepted, of course) are threatened by strong women. Plus, they're hypocrites (see Schlafly, Phyllis, et al). I guess that's why some women are republicans too.

As a woman as well I can say that a lot of women are some of the strongest enforcers of sexism against women.
If you feel that you have a certain "role" defined for you because you're a woman and you live by that role and self-police yourself you're going to hate looking at women who don't live by that internalized sexism. Anyone who makes you call your own choices/ideology into question might give you a scare.

10. I'd like to hear--directly--about women who "hate" Teresa.... |
|
But envy would be my first guess. She's intelligent & educated. Married for love--he just happened to be rich. Raised some fine children. Was widowed but found a pretty good husband #2.
She's outspoken & looks damn good for her age.

She's got lots of it. Also, a lot of women feel threatened by a strong, independent, smart woman like Teresa because they know they'll never get there. Look what Hillary had to put up with. I'm sure the repukes will do the same thing to Teresa.

21. Funny thing about Hillary |
|
When in the White House, some people hated her because she had no money – no large homes or other ostentatious possessions. Now that she has those things, they hate her for that, too.
Jackie Kennedy Onassis was a lot like Teresa. She kept her first husband's name, married an enormously rich man, and tragically lost him (her second husband was even richer than the first). However, she wasn't hated the way Teresa is.
Teresa is more open and warmhearted than Jackie ever was. Go figure.

Look at John Kerry. He and Teresa are a match made heaven. The less said about George and Laura, the better.

Noticed while watching the Frontline on Kerry and *'s lives that * was fixed up with Laura right before he ran for congress. Seems a little too convenient, like a powerful family fixing up their evil spawn to get him elected.
Maybe that's just me being vindictive & hitting the celebretory libations a little early :)
By the way, Teresa rocks! She was anti-fascist from an early age. Seems like the people who don't like her are the Hillary haters.

Real women LOVE Teresa. These so-called women are self-loathing fascists who try to be so much like the men in their lives that all they need is a sex-change operation to match their attitude (no offense to the transgendered).

28. There's a lot of envy regarding her, by both women and men. |
|
She is totally her own person, wealthy beyond imagination, intelligent, in a loving relationship and a mother. She defies stereotypes by being both jet-set, as well as warm and philanthropic. I guess many people prefer their icons to be one-dimensional.

31. Lots of women are afraid of a strong woman. |
|
Especially in the South! I was in the management world for a lot of years in Pgh. PA. I fought my way through the no women in mgmt era, hatered of professional women when the women's rights movement finally took hold. I was an officer in a big Streetrod Car Club. THEN, I was transferred to SC! Most women HATED ME there. They are still living in the era of the woman being subserviant to their husbands, they're not supposed to go out together unless their husbands are there, one streetrodder's wife told me how embarrassed she was because she had stopped in a grocery store and forgot she was still wearing her car club jack and HER HUSBAND WASN'T WITH HER! I had no idea what she meant. I asked "Why were you embarrassed? God, she loo9ked at me like I was a leaper or something, and said, because cars are a MAN'S thing!
Pay no attention to the complainers. Ignore them and hope they go back to their corner and cry.
