This reminds me of that Eagles song "The Sad Cafe". People wanted a lying sack of shit in 68 and 72 and that is what they got. In 76, they seemed to want more, but it didn't come out that way. In 80, they wanted a smiling airhead. They got him, And in 84. In 88, they felt like they had to win for the gipper. In 2000, we had a candidate go against a Republican who is the lowest common denominator. We lost, even though we won the popular vote. Now, the lowest common denominator wins the popular vote. Well. The media wanted Bush. The religious right wanted Bush. The neocons wanted Bush. And appearently so did America. The Bad guys always win. I had so much hope. I thought we had a great shot. History seemed to be on our side. But, the bad guys always win.

The Bad Always Wins by Tim Bluhm
Someone said that every man is greatest in his dreams But I'm clumsy in my nightmares and I'm stoned when I'm awake My life has gone from good to bad to worse to something else And the bad always wins
I choose my friends with caution when I have the chance to choose I'm supposed to make them help me keep my head on straight But even in a fancy joint a cockroach scuttles in And the bad always wins Army has those peace machines circling overhead Holding bombs for folks in other nations So why the hell are they flyin' over my native location 'Cuz the bad always wins Yes the bad keeps on winnin'
