we will be living in a theocracy. I live in the Bible Belt - I know what I'm talking about.
It has almost nothing to do with Christianity and everything to do with pod people. People who cannot and will not think and never have an original thought.
Intellectualism, artistic thought, science are all in the balance if we just step aside and let the Rightwing move in everywhere.
They will keep coming back - stronger and stronger. So we cannot give up. We have to stand our ground.
AND WE HAVE TO FIND OUR VOICE
BUT IT WILL HAVE TO BE THE VOICE OF REASON. THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE PERSECUTED BY NONBELIEVERS. We cannot win by being rude and obnoxious and angry!

As of today, do we not live in a theocracy, all of us, red and blue? I'm sorry -- I'm of no help to anybody today -- and, for that, I feel weak, hopeless and useless, and I apologize.

Our country is just split in half right now. Almost 55 million people out there think like we do. Probably more if you count those who didn't vote.
Bush is going to have to live with his mistakes - and they are doozies.
The real weakness of the Religious Right is that they always go way too far. No sense of when to stop.
I am Christian. And I refuse to let these people take over my life and my religion.

but we can't win regardless-
our voice is drowned out by thier hate, (disguised as 'love'-to quote 'Dobson' "tough love")
We lost this war in 2000, i just never wanted to acknowledge the truth of that- this election has proven, that money- and power are insurmountable- fear, hate, and secret alliances cannot be overcome without becoming enemies to everything we believe in- which means becoming 'one of them'-
We living in a country which has been taken over by an 'american' taliban'- how do we fight that?

4. Here is How I Deal With It On a Daily Basis |
|
I wear my St. Jude Medal where people can see it. I do not ignore - I listen to people. Some are people that I really admire.
I do not argue - if you get into an argument you will lose. They instantly go into "defense of their religion" mode.
I am passive but I do not give an inch.
You know, the very early church went thru a time almost like this. A lot of people thought the end of the world was emminent. A lot people were into speaking in tongues and having visions and all kinds of stuff.
But, in the end the movement just faded away. It is founded on mist and fog.
