On ABC this Labor Day morning in an interview, the labor secretary made the statement "those who are out of work should be happy, they are not alone"

And before Bush is done they might outnumber employed people.

This woman is a pea-brain, no matter what her IQ. On the other hand, she is fast becoming the dems best friend. She seems to be single-handedly trying to bring the maladministration down in 2K4.
She has all the labor relations talents of a Chinese War Lord.

She is clearly way over her head. A typical no-brain puppet that the special interests adore.

5. I heard a Chao speech about 2 weeks ago |
|
In this speech, she said Asian American about 50 times. I proud to be an Asian American, the Asian American contribution..., the Asian American family...Asian American this...Asian American that...My life as an Asian American, how my hard working family struggled and sacrificed to make me a successful Asian American, my parents were hard working Asian Americans. In fact, the speech was little more than look at me, I am a symbol of an Asian American. She has no concept at all about her function as the Secretary of Labor. Her standards concerning labor are those of an immigrant from oppressive authoritarian Asian country.
She said absolutely nothing about labor laws, the significant corporate obstructionism of organized labor, the decline of unions, unemployment, the minimum wage, the anti labor NLRB, the loss of benefits by the average American worker, the declining standard of living for working Americans, the terrible economy, the discrimination against minorities in this country, the declining business environment for small business that is putting (Asian) Americans out of business, the lack of health insurance for self employed Asian Americans who have to go into business for themselves because no one will hire them...
The woman is a stooge. She plays the same role in the regime as Rice and Powell, symbols of white patronage to obscure the truth about a racist plutocracy.

She is a disgrace to Asian Americans and I personally wish she'd shut up about beingan immigrant Asian American. Like Condisleezy, Powell and supreme court justice Clarence Thomas she is a low wattage type (despite being a Havard MBA) whom conservatives inevitably elevate. It's a funny form of racism and occurs over and over again with conservative establishments--they pick not the best, but the worse because it gives a verneer of diversity. However, because they usually pick idiots, the idiots are set up in one way or another to fail or publically exposed as stupid.
Chao was proably a big donor to the repuke party. She is also married to Senator Mitch McConell but ofcourse there is no nepostism going here. "Happy to be unemployed?" Give me a break!

I had not heard of Chao's meeting with Labor but I am glad she removed the mask and showed true intent. No one has to guess where these fuckers stand.
They are anti-labor, anti-non-rich, anti-worker, and anti-American.
They hate us and want to destroy us and render us impotent slaves.
Let the games begin.

13. I had heard of the talk... |

and damned near pissed my pants when I read that the Secretary of Labor was trashing unions. The official version: http://www.dol.gov/_sec/media/speeches/20030226_AFL-CIO_ExecComm.htmSounds OK, eh? But, that wasn't the whole story... Wobblies on Chao: http://lists.iww.org/pipermail/iww-news/2003-March/001440.htmlhttp://lists.iww.org/pipermail/iww-news/2003-June/002409.htmlAsians on Chao: http://modelminority.com/article33.htmlHey, someone even tied Chao in with Clinton and D'Amato: http://capmag.com/article.asp?ID=157Even the business pages noticed: http://www.freep.com/money/business/afl28_20030228.htmAbsolutely, positively, the worst Administration we have ever had. The only positive thing is that we didn't elect it.

12. Faux Introduced Her Saying Humongous Cuts for Labor |
|
But then in what passed for an "interview" there were NO details about the cuts, just "What would you say to somebody this Labor Day who is unemployed?" Her answer, "That you are not alone, that there are 38 programs(?) to help you." Would those be the programs about to be cut? It was a disjointed, content-free spot of less than 2 minutes. They couldn't get her off the air fast enough.

Chao's first foray into the public arena was her campaign against affirmative action with Pete Wilson in California. She tried to cut the funds for Peace Corps under BushI. As Labor secretary she cut the program that tracks nationwide corporate layoffs, and tried to transfer the new workman's compensation program from the Labor Dept. to the Justice Dept. Chao: "Trimming the Labor Dept. budget is the best thing I can do as Secretary." http://www.bayarea.com/mld/bayarea/4866764.htmhttp://www.labornews.com/html/budget.htmhttp://www.tpj.org/pioneers/elaine_chao.html

17. Unbelievable! How could she be so callous? |
|
But then again I remembered that she also claimed that Bush "inherited the recession" and that's all I needed to hear. She is a toady flack whose job is to promote the administration's policies and not the interests of the average worker.
