regroup for phase II...
kerry has conceded. unless ohio comes in for him or a close red state goes blue in provisionals/absentees, this presidential race is over.

time for phase II: the grassroots rebellion.

time for y'all to take this to the ground. the 2006 and 2008 races begin TODAY, the grassroots buildup begins TODAY and the push to impeach bush or force his resignation begins TODAY.

go out there and make it count people. talk the talk, walk the walk, fight the good fight. y'all can still send that carpetbagging criminal back to kennebunkport and his puppetmasters into the 'where are they now?' political abyss. the election may be over, but y'all have only begun to fight.

2. In 2006, we need to be pragmatic and take what is winnable.
We need to win the Governorships in Florida and Ohio. We need to make gains in the Senate too.

The House is out of play until 2010.

3. I don't think it will do any good.
What was done yesterday will be done in 2006.

5. Good news is that we have a start on 2010 redistricting because
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 05:29 PM by yellowcanine
we made some gains in state legislatures. The Dems should push for a constitutional amendment to take the redistricting power out of the hands of the state legislatures - it should be done by nonpartisan commissions (maybe even use the census bureau) who are required to produce contiguous districts - no gerrymandering and no protecting incumbents, etc. We could sell this as a good government issue and force it unto state ballots with referendums. Who would oppose it? Make this an election issue for the 2006 campaign. Also include reform of the electoral college - take away the 2 electoral votes for senators. And push for a standardized voting methodology across the United States for presidential elections - paper optical scan ballots OR electronic ballots with a paper receipt that is collected to ensure the accuracy of the electronic count. Same system across the country. Create a professional cadre of election workers who are paid to run elections across the U.S. for federal elections. Make election day a national holiday and require precincts to have some minimum number of voting machines based on the voting population.

7. Ok I am trying to think of ideas to make things better for us here
I agree we need to get some things started for '06 and '08 started by the end of the week for '08 I am really wanting to try to get the Draft Clark movement restarted because Hillary Clinton I am afraid will suffer the same defeat as Kerry. For '06 I want to try to start a PAC I am not quite sure how but I am looking for info on it at the moment if anyone knows about this kinda thing please let me know cause I am ready to continue the good fight because we may have lost this battle but we havent lost this war!!!!!

8. won't do any good unless you take back the message
people voted against Kerry because the right systematically set about to make "liberal" a dirty word (and other things.) Conservative was a dirty word when I was young (Goldwater lost because he was seen as too conservative. Nothing is too conservative any more.)

We need think tanks to reframe the issue. Americans vote for liberal "issues" as long as you don't call them liberal.
