Surfer and progressive democrat Donna Frye will probably be the next mayor of San Diego. She couldnt get on the ballot in the non-partisan election, but just recently threw her hat in the ring as a write-in. Frye currently holds a 35%-31% lead over do-nothing incumbent Dick Murphy.

This is big for this once repug stronghold. Both Murphy and Ron Roberts(the other repug running), are stuffed shirt butt boys for developers. Frye is a smart lady and will actually do something.

Some good news.

1. Gods willing, this result will hold up
Of course, it's yet another case where a Dem has to come in and clean up the mess left by Repug politicians. I hope she's prepared for this, because it will really be an opportunity for her to show San Diego what she's got.

2. Remember "Mayor Mo"? Maureen O'Connor?
She came in after Roger Hedgecock fucked up the city, and did a great cleanup job.
I hope that Donna gets it. We need to get rid of the same old white guy repugs that seem to fuck things up year after year.

3. Not e-voting so we should be able to trust the outcome
Imagine if we had used BBV. These numbers would not look like this:

With 100 percent of the precincts reporting.

Donna Frye -- 121,278 votes for about 35.25 percent
DIck Murphy -- 117,075 for about 34.03 percent
Ron Roberts -- 105,663 votes for 30.71 percent

I don't actually live in the city, but I've always admired Donna because she truly believes in environmental cause.

4. Thank God we didnt use BBV's.
She's bright, vibrant and true liberal. It would be great for San Diego if she wins.
