2. When All The Votes are not counted honestly
why should anyone want to bother to vote?

3. Hopefully, but considering the circumstances...
they shouldn't / shouldn't have needed such prodding in the first place. Their apathy really cost us this time. Hope they (we) find the Middle East pleasant.

4. Are they really worth all the effort?
I'm in this group and I can tell you some were too stoned the night before to go vote in my area.

6. Frankly I don't give a damn
It is up to the youth -- if they want to vote they will.

But only if their short sighted personal interests are involved.

8. I hope they all get drafted. I'm 32 & half blind- so no worries here.
Just kidding.

My point is that an apparent majority of the young dont give a shit-they only care about themselves.

I'm through fighting for the young- I'm ready to move into a new demographic of people who give a shit!!!

The GOOD young people who did the right thing will hopefully know what to do with themselves.

Hey-we can give them another shot in 2006- I'm a firm believer in redemption.

9. Not a chance
The youth of today, unless faced with direct challenge such as a draft, are what youth are...... unfocused and self-serving. I'm sure it was more important to sleep in or copulate with your partner-du-jour than it was to stand in line for hours to vote. So in my opinion, let them go to Iran, Syria, North Korea and Cuba. I hate to be so crass but they deserve what they get. A few thousand of them get blown away in Bush's wars and they will realize that latte or extra hours of sleep cost them deeply.

12. Chicken or the egg?
Mostly just chickens- or lazy.

I dont think the "pay attention to us & our issues or we wont vote" tactic will do to well for the youth demographic from now on.

The "system" is now officialy just as cynical about the kids as they are about the system.

BTW-No one is talking about you and the 11% of good kids who do care.
We are all a little frustrated right now- so forgive us if we vent too hard.

attention in his first election either. I think this experience will wake some of them up though!

16. We aren't worth it...
As a 23-year old male, I know that our prized demographic (18-24 year olds) will not get to the polls.

For one the two parties do not interest us with anything we care about:

-Sure you got the war, but there will be no draft as Charles Rangel (sp?) proposed it and it got squashed. Anyway we could always be real men and move to Canada, like the brave people who fled during the Vietnam era.

-With the war, you got world opinion. Once again we don't really care. It doesn't matter what England, France, Malaysia, Spain, Pakistan, Egypt, Brazil, Germany, Russia, or China thinks when most of us couldn't spot any of these places on a map.

-As far as social security, we don't care. We won't see any of it because our parent's generation will drain that.

-Prescription drugs is for old farts and we are far from that age. So scrap that from our interest.

-We don't care about tax cuts, because they don't benefit us (we don't make enough),yet we are cynical about the benefit of more government programs.

-None of the candidates really mentioned much about the environment. The baby boomers are already ransacking our social security, should they also leave us a yucky planet? Isn't there global warming or something?

-The policy on Cuba doesn't interest us, because typically we do not know 1960's history. We don't know about Fidel Castro and the Cuban Missile Crisis. We never learn that stuff in high school, as we waste five weeks learning about pre-colonial American history. But then again over here in Texas there are no Cubans to cater to.

-We know that gay marriage and abortion are just "sideshow" wedge issues. No interest to us, we see through the rhetoric.

The only way I see my age group making it out to the polls is to address issues that actually interest us. All I can think of is censorship and booze. We don't want our MTV messed with. As far as candidates go I do not see any pushing for censorship of any kind. If there were our age group would swarm against the Brown Shirt and vote against him. Another scenario I could see would be lowering the triking age back to 18. It does not make sense that at that age we can fight, kill, maim, and die for our country but we are not "mature" enough to consume alcohol. Ditto for gambling.

Oh yes the question was will the youth vote come out for 2006. I don't think so. It only elects 100% of our house of representatives, one thirds of the senate, and some governors. That will just elicit apathy from us as it is not exciting like a president. Maybe when we start making money we will care. But until then don't expect much help from us, except for the weird ones like me who care about politics.

18. I call Bullshit-Here we go again- Chicken or the egg...
This was your big chance to finally have people listen to you. Y'all blew it.

Can you support your prediction that Kerry would have ignored the youth vote if they had showed up?

If you cant get interested in the fact that the President has lied his way into an unecessary World War III, then I cant help you.

Stop blaming the lack of motivation on others- you either want a piece of the pie or you do not.

The people have spoken-all 11% of you- and you gets no pie!

Call me back when you are ready to do somthing about your situation- instead of crying how no one listens to people who cant even bother to vote once every four years.
