Have you encountered any republicans who were genuinely empathetic?
I've yet to do so. The college republicans I know were predictably revaling in the misery of both the students and faculty who've walked around like zombies today. Even if they weren't litterally taunting and mocking democrats the others were cracking smiles at the one's who were.

1. Oh they will get theirs when they find out that degree they are getting
won't be worth even 12 dollars an hour.

20. Or their pursuit of that degree is interrupted by a nice little camping
trip in, say, Iraq! Good for 'em.

2. no, i haven't
and basically it sums up the difference between us and them, they do not consider how their actions effect others, they do not place themselves in other's shoes.

3. No
but today I was walking with a scowl and some say I look crazy when I get like that so while no one was empathizing, no one approached me either. They risked having their asses kicked if they started in on me.

10. Of course. But they were categorically misinformed about the GOP
College Republicans are a different story--I would guess no. But really, 51% of those who voted aren't dumb or monsters, but they are incredibly ignorant.

hung up on one co-worker. told another i was about to hang up on him after he told me he saw a conservative woman on tv last night gloating over how all the young people motivated to vote will now be crushed by the result. i sarcastically told him i thought that bodes well for democracy.

i was also called a doom and gloomer because i'm so bummed.

screw them all

15. No. I don't think......
I don't think that the quality of "empathetic" applies to the lower forms of life. In fact there is some controversy whether all primates have cognitive recognition of emotion. But the RepuKKKes are of the parasitic, single-cell forms of life. I am sure they do not possess this capacity. And in this election it shows.

16. Rethugs are Reptilian. No Empathy Possible.
These freepy @$$holes are simply too childish and mentally immature to express any grace in victory. They are ill-mannered just like their redneck pretzeldent. They see smugness as admirable, etc. (You can make your list or add to mine). Expect the worse from them.

I find myself feeling anger toward friends who are Republicans and likely Bush voters. Probably not a healthy thing, but what the hell.

I work in a place where the majority are Repub, but to tell you the truth, I'M more cheery than they are.
I think they are terrified for their children.
They know what this means, and were hoping Kerry could pull this out.

23. Yes...guy at work, who doesn't like Bush or Kerry
He's a pretty cool guy, a former pirate (seriously, he used to own a boat and dive to recover bounty from old wrecked ships) and former member of a reggae band. I have no idea how he turned out Repug...he's more of a Libertarian really.

Anyway we have intelligent discussions with opposing views a lot. He's not happy with Bush, but he didn't like Kerry either.

Sherleen!!! How are you?? I'll email you tonight!

Jaded, I was checking out DU today too. Loved that opening line about not sure how this whole thing happened. I'll tell them how the whole thing happened. They are so sanctimonious and obnoxious, they did get out the vote....the vote against them. May they return to their little DU rathole to wait for their chance in another 4 years. I don't think they will learn their lesson about being condescending idiots....they blame the loss on the "stupidity" of those who cast their ballots for Bush, instead of taking a hard look at what a turn-off their loud-mouthed, bully propaganda machine efforts earned them. But that's just my humble opinion :)

I hate these people! I will never, ever unite with these creeps! Their nothing but a bunch of sick F**ks! Wanta get a few jabs in? Go To: http://bbs.reimanpub.com/bulletinboard.asp?view=cat&headnum=2&catnum=85

Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 08:27 PM by Hepburn
Unbelievable cruel and arrogant. Taunting and smug. Even the one person who tried to be nice, gave me a load of Christian crap about "God's will." It really hurt more than it made me mad. It was like they were enjoying seeing someone suffer.

29. I know I am stereotyping but college republicans
usually have this pail look to them and their nose holes are rimmed in red as if their noses have been running. I worked on a campus and just always noticed that. I used to wonder if the fair skin look they seemed to have in common was from the "pure German" line that Hitler loved so much. I am not bad mouthing all Germans, Just the ones who are republican.

31. Yes.
My Best friend (who voted for * but cannot stand him or Kerry). She was very empathetic and we had a long talk at lunch and she was very supportive. She knows how I feel and I know I can count on her to be there for me even though she supported * by voting for him.
