When Bush names legislation, it means the opposite
Edited on Mon Sep-01-03 10:36 AM by quinnox
The "Clean Skies Initiative" means loosening rules for corporate polluters further.

The "No Child Left Behind Act" means cutting early childhood education funding.

The "Jobs Incentive Bill" means cutting taxes on the wealthiest Americans.

1. Yes but the media helps him!
The news media helps the false impressions take hold!
If we had just 1 real news network this nation would have a chance to wake up.

Every Kobe Bryant court hearing is covered, not one Dick Cheney hearing is covered. The people are clueless and the media is the fault!!!!

2. A writer on Buzzflash agrees with you:

<snip>
Here's a good rule of thumb: Hear what Bushites say, and then expect the opposite to come true. You'll be right more than you're wrong.

And here's the score: Despite what the Bush administration says, the mission is not accomplished in Iraq. Iraq wasn't a grave threat to the U.S. America is not safer for attacking Iraq. The Iraqi people don't welcome us there. Iraq is not more stable and is not becoming a beacon of democracy in the mideast.

Despite Bushites telling us the opposite.

Oh, and while we're at it: the tax cuts have not stimulated the economy. Our economy is not getting better. Our skies aren't clearer, our nation is not safer, gas prices aren't lower, and most everyone is paying more in taxes and fees than we were before Bush's tax cut. The list of say-the-opposite-of-what's-truisms goes on and on.

And don't forget the Big Lie that got us here: Bush is NOT a "uniter" who "trusts the people."

....more

3. Not by accident
Whenever he speaks take the extreme opposite of his apparent view and multiply this by a negative 10. Rove and the Extreme Right Neo-nuts have got this game down pat and know people don't pay attention to the details.

5. Alternate definition of "Act"
I've decided that this Congress and this administration have determined that the word "Act" in their bills does NOT mean "a statute, decree, or enactment, resulting from a decision by a legislative or judicial body", but rather they're using an alternate definition: "A manifestation of intentional or unintentional insincerity; a pose". (Definitions from dictionary.com)

It makes things a lot more clear when you look at it that way:

The Help America Vote "Act"
The Patriot "Act"
The No Child Left Behind "Act"

And countless others...

8. There was this post on a dif thread by Ilsa
I bookmarked it

"I ask myself that question almost daily, when I hear about some absurd revisionist explanation of why everything they do has to work backwards like Seinfeld in Bizarro World:

We have to cut down the forests to save them.
We have to bomb the Iraqis to protect them.
We have to restrict American freedom so we can protect liberty.
We have to protect the overseas outsourcing of jobs to create new jobs.
We have to save money on the war by privatizing and providing a profit.
I can't even lucidly convey the concept of how there were no Al Queda terrorists in Iraq until well after the US occupation of Iraq.

My head is spinning."

The nation has changed in the first three years of Bush

Posted: Sept. 1, 2003 12:01 a.m.

President George W. Bush has managed to convert the Justice Department to the Injustice Department, the Environmental Protection Agency to the Environmental Destruction Agency and the Defense Department to the Offense Department in just three years. Given another four years, I suspect you can expect the nation to be under martial law.
