guess Leonard Cohen's "Everbody Knows" fit the mood in the end
"Everybody knows that the dice are loaded
Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed
Everybody knows that the war is over
Everybody knows the good guys lost
Everybody knows the fight was fixed
The poor stay poor, the rich get rich
That's how it goes
Everybody knows
Everybody knows that the boat is leaking
Everybody knows that the captain lied
Everybody got this broken feeling
Like their father or their dog just died "

2. Indeed, it does. Cohen blues do the job.
But I need a little hope right now, too.

Bruce says it all in Badlands...

...Badlands, you gotta live it every day
Let the broken hearts stand
As the price you've gotta pay
We'll keep pushin' till its understood
And these badlands start treating us good
Workin' in the fields
Till you get your back burned
Workin' 'neath the wheel
Till you get your facts learned
Baby I got my facts
Learned real good right now
Poor man wanna be rich
Rich man wanna be king
And a king ain't satisfied
Till he rules everything
I wanna go out tonight
I wanna find out what I got
I believe in the love that you gave me
I believe in the hope that can save me
I believe in the faith
And I pray that some day it may raise me
Above these badlands
For the ones who had a notion
A notion deep inside
That it ain't no sin to be glad you're alive
I wanna find one face that ain't looking through me
I wanna find one place
I wanna spit in the face of these badlands

3. I love Leonard Cohen!

Have all of his CDs that I know about.

"Pump Up the Volume" introduced me to "Everybody Knows".

I find that the principal in that movie, and her motives, match the Texas experience with Leave No Child Behind. That belief is based on Molly Ivin's description of it in "Bushwacked".
