Something to make you blue staters feel better. |
|
Just imagine living in a red state. I am from New England and have lived in GA for 8 years. I dread dropping my son off at preschool tomorrow and waiting in line with several minivans and SUVs with * stickers. I dread seeing the idiot who works at the grocery store who said to me recently "I can't believe you have that sticker on your car." (K/E) I said back to him "I can't believe you keep believing *'s lies." I dread running into a woman who lives in my neighborhood that I stopped speaking to after she said "she can't believe people don't realize Saddam hid all his WMDS and was glad a car bomb in Iraq killed 68 people. I hated taking in my K/E yard sign today while all the * ones (lots, of course) stayed up. I have never seen my husband so sad. I spent part of the day looking for jobs in New England for him. I can't wait to move back there.

and when I picked my daughter up at school I saw a van decorated in huge letters: "viva W" blech, puke, ew and all of the above. It doesn't make it any easier knowing our state went for Kerry - he's still not the POTUS and that sucks.

...I didn't bring in my lawn signs or remove my bumper stickers. Instead I just crossed off the names and wrote "Four more years of hell" I feel for you. I'm Minnesotan, but my conservative county went overwhelmingly with Bush.

it was close, and my town went for Chimpy. I was the Kerry Precinct Captain and had to wait for the results with a bunch of local hillbillies. Thank god for the wonderful Dem poll checkers, Dem poll watcher and Moveon Members who stayed with me long after they could have have gone home to warm beds. There was some sort of glitch and we all sat there for 2 hours as the election officials worked it out. We got to listen to the hillbillies debate whether you should pay any taxes ever. Trust me it is not safe anywhere.

I'm tortured in Texas. Originally from a Northeast blue state, I have lost Texas friends (and Blue state Repuke relatives) over this election. I had the only Kerry sign in my neighborhood. It was knocked down 3 times and removed, ripped and thrown in the gutter up the street. I replaced it and added one of those little American flags on a stick. Rednecks gave me the finger for my Kerry bumper sticker. I wore a Kerry button for two weeks and got lots of nasty looks. I'd give anything to move out of this right wing hole. But hey, I got my Republican husband to vote for Kerry, but I'm supposed to keep it a secret.
