Nice story about my 16 yr old
As I arrived home I noticed my son thrashing around @ the fire wood pile. He was slamming fire logs against the pile.... I asked "what's up here?". He collapsed into my arms, sobbing: "that son of a bitch won dad!" It was a real father-son moment. I told him that I to had cried this AM & that we're going to live thru this crap....... ya know, I think that boy is going to grow up just fine.

1. This morning my 16 year old daughter
said, "I think I'm going to cry. I bet you already did." and she was right.

2. Give your son a HUG from me and
let him know he is not alone. I am so glad that the kids noticed this election and they will not forget.

Thank goodness for the children and the future democrats out there.

We are all not alone in this and I started the grieving process when I came home from work in a depression and started crying and I felt a little bit of grief lifted off my shoulder.

Thanks for sharing that it really is a nice story.

3. He sure will! Thank you for sharing that story.
Please give him an extra hug on a regular basis - a young man in today's America has every right to feel as your son does. I wish you both peace and safety.

4. mine has been mad all day but controlled himself
even at school when being taunted by repub's kids. He worked with a teenpeace group GOTV in Oregon last weekend and is very upset. He gave a SDA (spontaneous display of affection- an unsolicited hug) and asked about dual citazenship (why can't I spell that?). They are the future.

6. ditto -- I cried too.
Last night I cried myself to sleep. Today, I was ok today until I read this thread. Now I'm in tears. I'm so sorry to hear this!!!

Today, a friend, who needed lots of arguments/facts to vote for Kerry, called. I felt that she was almost pissed at me for providing those links. (almost like it was more important to vote for the winner than the right choice!)

She said that she & her husband had voted for Kerry, but all three of their kids voted for Bush in their school elections. "Our oldest son, is especially a Bush supporter," she said. BIG MISTAKE!!!!

"How old is he?" I asked.

"Fifteen," she responded.

"Well, let's ask him in 3 years if he still supports Bush."

"What do you mean?" she asked stupidly.

"You tell me, ________. What do all young men have to do at the age of 18?"

Silence. And then, "I'll ship him to Canada if that happens."

9. I hope you set her straight
>Silence. And then, "I'll ship him to Canada if that happens."<

Her precious son won't be able to flee to Canada if there's a draft. The US made damn sure that the Canadian government agreed to seal their borders to draft evaders a few weeks back.

I've stayed home all day. I'm steeling myself for tomorrow, because I just don't know if I can remain quiet in the face of taunting Republicans.

Julie

12. Good luck today, Julie!
And thanks on the info about the Canadian border. I will definitely pass that info on to her.

Personally, I think everyone who voted for Bush under the age of 50 should have to enlist. You want this warmonger in office? Then put your money where your mouth is & REALLY support his war.

7. Two of the hardest days I've had to live through
Nov 2,2004 and Nov 22,1963. Tomorrow we all need to get up and start the fight again with all the force of our beliefs. I'm really happy that you and your son are there for each other, I'd love to be in your position.
Thank you for your efforts, but remember the war is not lost. Tomorrow we have to start the next battle. That battle will be on the battlefield of accountability. We need to hold the administration to account for their deceptions and failures. Make them pay the price for their choices.

11. My wife came home
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 11:32 PM by RummyTheDummy
And came into the room I was watching the returns in. No words were said. I just collapsed in her arms and balled my eyes out. We've been married for 6 months, and we've been together for 4 years. I never felt closer to her than I did at that moment.
