So at 2 am last night what did you want? You wanted all of the votes in OH and FL and Iowa to be counted. Hell Nevada even seemed up for grabs. You probably yelled at FOX news and MSNBC because they called Ohio for Bush and there were still votes to be counted. It all seemed so surreal that it was ending when there was so much voter fraud and supression and questions left to be answered.
Well guess what everybody? We are getting EXACTLY what we wanted last night and what we want now. Every vote will be counted and every possible illegal voter supression will be investigated and brought to light. It will happen and it is happenning as we speak. It can't be stopped. Why, after a concession would it be stopped?
Judy Woodruff and Brit Hume are not in the constitution. There is no article stating that a concession speech is law or a phone conversation for that matter. Despite all of the graphics and accompanying music that they can throw on their infotainment channels declaring "projected winners" it's a bunch of yentas sitting around gossiping over the best guess that they heard. The constitution is a brilliant document written with a foresight and wisdom that I am only beginning to comprehend. It ain't over folks until the fat lady sings and she doesn't perform until the elctoral college gets together and compares notes.
It's a lil ironic that the very system that thwarted the democrats the last time may be the mechanism that saves them. Could it be that after four years of analysis of "What went wrong in 2000" could produce this simple, almost poetic strategy. Don't give the republicans the fight that they want that they can win. Let the votes be counted and do everything possible to make that happen. If the votes were counted last time we'd be celebrating a Gore re-election right now. He concedes, looks like a great guy, repubs relax, votes get counted, legitimacy is tested and if doubtful retract speech and conversation and claim the irrefutable untainted victory. If they don't get the votes well they don't get the votes and he looks like a great guy and those are the breaks. I can live with a legitimate loss. I would love believing in democracy and the credibility of our voing system again if just one loss is the price.
This thought has given me a sense of peace because at least it's one plausible explanation as to why Kerry conceded. If not then he really owes Springsteen an apology for using "No Surrender" as a campaign song.

the impediment of the tricky one they call, Blackwell? In FLA2000, they were finding sacks of votes left in car trunks and churches. This was because recountmania heated things up. Where is the heat in OH?

You know that these votes are going to be counted?? You know that the fraud will be investigated? There were so many comments to the effect that, "Kerry gave up, the counting is finished." I can't stand that.
My lord... I can go to sleep, still crying, but not in total despair. THANK YOU! I may well be in denial over this, but it is HUMAN to cling to every last hope. And it is what JK asked of us in the campaign.
Count every vote.... That's all I ask. It is too late to do anything about the outcome. I just want to know what it truly is so I can have some peace.

Kerry said so himself about all of the votes will still be counted in his concession speech.
When it happened last time (you know, a stolen election) it took a lil time for the stories to trickle out about racial voter supression and the butterfly ballots etc. There are equivalent stories from across the country that have yet to come out. Most importantly, every state has its own laws about certifying elections. Every possible vote must be counted and then certified and all of this has to happen before the electoral college meets on DECEMBER 13th. That's 6 weeks of time when ANYTHING can happen. Then it's not until January when the results get approved by congress and it can still be stopped.
As long as Kerry doesn't fight the repubs can't fight back. The process as it is now cannot run its course in a night. That expectation is ridiculous now. The process will proceed now. It's not over until it's over. These are the facts. Could these two guys, who just Happen to be lawyers, have come up with a strategy that only someone with knowledge and respect for the constitution could? Makes me think and at least preserves my sanity with hope for another day.
Go to sleep hon, we'll be here in the morning!
