My email to all the cable news media... |
|
This is going out to every show possible on cable news media:
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am a Kerry supporter like thousands of others who felt your election coverage was pure Republican bias.
Because of you the labels that Bush suggested for Kerry (like the flip-flopper) stuck to the senator, because of you the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth wild stories about Kerry were credible, because of your lack of questioning the current administrations had an easy pass to go to Iraq getting us in that mess, you let all the lies said about Kerry during the Republican convention go out as facts, etc.
Cable news stations in general are getting ridiculous and you cannot be trusted as source of news. I thought the media were supposed to act as a public service and I thought you were supposed to question our government no matter what party is in power. But you decide not to do that and instead you only cover what is good for business. I don't blame you for trying to make a profit since you are a business but I cannot watch your channel any longer because misinformation is all you have to offer.
Since the Kerry loss I haven't watched any news at all or went to your website at all and I don't miss. So I'm tuning all of the cable news channels out including yours. As of today I am no longer going to your sites either. I don't want to be a victim of misinformation any longer.
Sorry it didn't work out between us.
Sincerely,
XXXXXXXXXX

1. A mass organized boycott of the media even for one week would do it. |

cut off your cable completely. Until it hits them in the wallet, it will not matter.

3. A boycott won't work unless you |
|
1. get rid of cable and/or 2. go after their advertisers
I suggest #2. Remember they don't know if you are watching unless you are one of the few sampled. You can get rid of cable, but you can't get rid of just the news stations. But, if we could organize boycots on the companies that advertise. Starting with FOX, perhap. Starting with Hannity, perhaps. Lots of emails, lots of phone calls, lots of letters -- just like Sincliar. But even bigger.

4. if they lose the viewer |
|
it's wasted ad $$. without the advertiser, the stations can dry up, or offer the truth for a change. They suck the teat of corporations rather than feed the public any nourishment.
look, put it this way. Everytime you go to a website that has linked ads, they get something for it. The ads collect crap from cookies, etc. that feed back to the advertisers.
DU should ONLY allow print versions of stories from websites which have very little advertising on them. And you get the text of the story, without the invasion of your personal data.
little things add up.

6. Losing views doesn't mean anything |
|
unless you are one of the few sampled. They don't know if you are watching. This isn't like canceling your subscription to a newspaper. They don't know you turn off the show.
You have to take action.

1-cut the cable. You've just 'cancelled your subscription'
2-Leave your television running, but in an empty room. How much influence do you think the corporate advertisers have to the furniture, walls, carpet or dust in the room. They will feel the effect in their pocketbook/coffers. They are paying BIG $$ for airtime, and their product just isn't selling....and that will be the fault of the station that does not have a viewer to be manipulated.
and i agree, one must take action. I have: no cable, posts only internet 'print' edition links (generally no ad links). Shop as little as possible, live with less, etc.
but first, kill the TV. You can stay well informed on the net.

8. We just canceled Direct TV |
|
Put up antena, we made the dission during hurricanes, dish goes out in bad weather all the time. We figured saving 50 to 60 dollars a month could go into savings. There is not much to enjoy on TV and we found we were reading more and enjoying it. We have canceled newspaper, internet gives us the news. I REFUSE TO SHOP WALMART!I stick to small mom and pop stores when ever I can. I know it probably does'nt make a large dent, but I FEEL BETTER!
