The Internet....this is the thing that scares me the most
how long are these assholes going to sit by and not fuck with the freeness of our blogs etc? Surely they can see what a HUGE (and maybe the only) threat it is to them?

1. Were they ever a threat?
Didn't seem to hurt their 2004 coup much.

3. I think they had a HUGE effect ....
however you are right...not enough. As a bunch of people said yesterday. The right has been organizing for 30 years (since Goldwater lost) when did we start? In 2000.

2. they won with churches
The GOP won by organizing face-to-face, in person. The Internet is great at finding all the people who already think like you no matter how obscure your interests. Blogs are great, but they are clearly not enough.

4. If you register your blog...
... with an ISP and a TLD (top level domain, like .tv or .ru etc.) outside the US, there's nothing they can do to prevent it, unless they take actions such as in China, where even surfing to an anti- government site consitutes an offense... And even the Repukes wouldn't get away with that one!

with paperless voting and they seem to be pulling that off nicely. And with the Patriot Act aren't they allowed to access your computer history in the name of Homeland Security?

6. Believe me,...
... I am a web designer by trade, there isn't anything they could do about it. There are benefits to outsourcing, after all! ;-)

7. ummm... not just the history
but the computer itself. They just take the whole thing when they need to see what's on it. Ask current prisoner Sherman Austin whose website raisethefist.org had a board poster place a link to bomb making information.

8. You mean do like China does?
I think we have to worry when some corp. figures how to own the whole thing.Took them some time but they finally took over the power on the power companies. That also was something the Federal govt. paid for and made sure it went all over the country. No it did not pay for it all but the govt. made sure it got to just about every one. Corp, were not going to do that and we used to have some say.
