"Don't worry about the draft" I tell Republican parents
"Don't worry about the draft. Yes your (child/niece/nephew/grandchild) will soon be draft age but don't worry -- We're already hiring illegal aliens to fight the war for us."

2. I plan to start lobbying for a draft. No I don't want one nor do I
support the "war" in Iraq, but let's scare the crap out of Repuke parents and the college age set who didn't vote. 1971 got lots of college kids politically active and brought about a liberal change to the country. Time to start the new revolution.

5. My brother, who voted for Bush both times, is worried about a draft
I told him that he should be happy to have his sons fight in W's glorious war, and that he should do the patriotic thing and volunteer himself. That's when he hung up on me.

I'm trying to work up some sadness about it, really I am.

6. From the party of "family values"
we have families that aren't speaking to each other any more. How many posts have been seen here about family members fighting over this election? I can't count them. :(

11. Well, to be fair, we've never been that close
He went crazy nutso for Jesus about the time he served in the first gulf war. Not that that kept him from cheating on his wife, getting a dishonorable discharge for drunk driving, or losing his job last winter due to massive theft from his employer. In short, this is not a good man.

But I understand the sentiment.

12. Why do people do things like that?
Why would anyone vote for someone who will draft their sons into war? It makes no sense. We have neighbors with a son who has CF. They are ardent supporters of the pResident who is against funding both medical research and insurance. Why don't all of these people just toss their kids onto a busy freeway? It'll be faster and the results will be the same.

Unbelievable. Absolutely.

14. Well from how Modem Butterfly describes her brother ...
Edited on Thu Nov-04-04 03:25 PM by Kat 333
He and the chimp seem to share many traits. Cheating, Stealing, nutso for Jesus ...

Modem Butterfly I think you should count your blessings and think of another truth (these sorts can't deal with that) to throw at him just in case he should call again.

7. No need for a draft,
As a part of his "reach out" promise, the (p)resident will be sure that his daughters set an example to the country and enlist and, of course, volunteer for duty in Iraq.

13. Did Bush ever say flat out no draft?
He'a man who means what he says and says what he means. (sarcasm) Seriously; how much wiggle room does he have to institute a draft? What would it take to provide him cover on breaking his word?
