Think it is time for the Bushy supporters to put their money where
their mouth is. I challenge every DU member, upon meeting someone who voted this bastard in, to ask for a pledge from that voter to sign up for the military to fight this war they so obviously support. And if they are of an age or physical ability that renders them unable to do it themselves ask that they encourage (demand) their children, grandchildren, brother, sister, to commit to the war effort. Gone are the days of talking the talk, they now need to walk the walk. It is time for them to stop letting others fight THEIR battles for them. Recruitment numbers are down and THEIR COUNTRY NEEDS THEM. Either they are willing to fight for this country or not. You think this war was necessary? Then pay up assholes.

Conversely, I think it would behoove every person who voted against this administration to seriously consider not joining the military (think that is pretty much a given). I don't want to weaken our defenses but since BoyGeorge has already done that - let them tote the note and haul the water for this guy. Bushy has four long years and many more wars to fight. Tell them - "You love the guy so much - then you go die for him."

Let's see them do the chickenshit dance around that one.

1. They're cowards like the fat, pasty-white Jonah Goldberg who
commented on c-span that he wouldn't sign up 'cause he has an 18 mo. old daughter, but if she decided to sign up when she's of age, then they would talk about it.

2. We can't let people like him get away with stupid comments
like that. Hiding behind an 18-month-old child? Does he realize there are a hundred thousand soldiers in Iraq right now that have children? Shouldn't he want to do HIS part to make America safe for HIS daughter? Chickenshit. And we need to call them that to their faces. During World War II the healthy men who didn't volunteer faced extreme pressure for their unpatriotic actions. Let's call them on it.

Would love to ask that guy, "Aren't you willing to die for your child's freedom and safety?"

3. That's what I've been doing for a long time now
They just whine about how they are the sole provider (as if there aren't many reservists in this situation also), or about how they don't have to because others are doing it for them, or about how they don't care about the war (they just want their tax cut) or the soldiers should have thought about war before they signed up(when I tried to sign up, I don't remember being told that I would be used as a forced mercenary for Halliburton). This election has showed me who I can respect as my friends (and I've cut off a lot of them).

It's disgusting the things I hear when I call them out for the rat bastards that they are. One guy told me "why do you care, the military is just another form of welfare"!!!! From same moron "we spend a lot of money on the military, it's only logical that they are used as much as possible". Of course all this is coming from a 27-year-old "man", who still lives with mommy, has never HAD to work (he did work) to pay a mortgage, for food, car, insurance, etc, as MOMMY does all of it, she even still cooks all his meals for him even though she works 2 jobs so to pay for a college education even though he doesn't have anything else to do but go to school part time!!! He gets to sit behind his computer while he supports the killing and maiming of countless innocents for NOTHING but money for people who already have more than they will every be able to spend.

Sorry for the long and illogical rant. I'm still reeling from the "fact" (will never believe this was an totally fair election) 51% of "Americans" (can't call them that) have handed this man the power to inflict even worse damage upon the world. I'm so fucking scared what he will accomplish not having to worry about be re-selected.

4. Welcome to DU, and congrats on speaking up to these idiots
I will never understand their mentality. They are soulless bastards, IMHO. Like you, I'm reeling about the election's outcome. It was indeed stolen but I think it won't be long before the people who voted for Bush begin to see just what they have done as Bush proceeds to inflict more damage upon the world, as you said. I am heartsick at the prospect and utterly disgusted by anyone who voted for Bush for whatever stupid reason they may have had. Wish I could see some bright spot in the future, but right now I just can't. We have to hang in there, though. The Bushies would love it if we'd all just go away. I'm terrified that they may "arrange" for that to happen one day soon. Evil, evil people!!

Glad to have you as a part of the DU "family".
