Becoming callous -- America will get exactly what it deserves.

I'm finding it harder to even care anymore what happens.

You know, it's like having a teenage child who continually gets in trouble, won't listen, won't deal with reality, etc. After a while, all you can do is let them go and do what they are going to do.

At this point, I think we are going to get exactly what we deserve. People are going to go through a lot of pain before things turn around, and, unfortunately, that's what it's going to take.

The every day events, the ups and downs that are coming in the next month are minor.

1. Yup.
I've got a new mantra: "Well, at least no one got butt-fucked." for whatever bad things happen to Republicans or the nation as a result of Republican policies.

3. LMAO!

At least no one got butt-fucked. Indeed, that's what actually counts. Too bad the prisoners at Abu Graib (you remember, the young boys) can't say the same thing.

I think Allen Ginsberg said it best -- "America, go fuck yourself with your atom bombs."

Thanks for the laugh.

4. I saw a car with some W bumper stickers this morning and I was filled
with rage.

I now want to hold every Bush voter responsible for every death and disaster that we know is coming. Any excuses for the last time are gone.

8. Well, buddy..it's going to come...

...all the disaster we've feared is on it's way. So buckle up and get a magazine. The only consolation is that you didn't contribute to it.

Bush has created so much destruction, terrorists will surely attack us again. We can hope against hope, but when it happens, how can anyone be truly surprised??

Germany had to go through WW2 and the Holocaust before they awakened to the dangers of fundamentalism and superstition. America is about to get walloped but good. May take a year or more.. but it's coming.

9. Don't let them see that you are irked. Don't waste energy ...
on uncontrolled, unfocused rage/anger.

Take a little break. Then hunker down, get your anger under control, and focus it on planning your next political move.

Signed,
Speaking from Experience

5. I agree. And that was my attitude after Reagan was elected
in 1980.

I said "screw this" and got a very high-paying job. Later, I used the money I saved to subsidize nonprofits, among other things.

I live frugally and give as much as I can to worthy causes.

6. Sad as it might seem, it could be the best thing that ever happened.
Sometimes, really stupid and scared people only change and wake up to the truth when their whole world is falling apart and they can no longer deny it.

7. I'm with you.
I will feel absolutely no sympathy for the Christian southern whites 10 years from now when they are crying about losing their financial security and their health care. They deserve everything coming to them for aiding and abetting Bush's murderous policies. They have abdicated their responsibility as citizens of a democracy by failing to educate themselves about the issues and make reasoned choices. If I'm not mistaken, they're the ones always screaming about "personal responsibility," so let them take responsibility for supporting Bush's band of murderers and thieves.

11. Absolutely, but you know
even after they've lost their job, lost health care, lost their Social Security, lost their kids in Iraq, they'll still have the consolation of knowing that the gay man in the next hospital bed isn't married.

And they'll still blame liberals for everything that's happened to them.

10. The only problem with your analogy is, ....
... that a lot of innocent people will get hurt. If Shrub was strapped with an AK- 47 to fight the war like in "Mosh", then OK by me, but neither he nor any of the SOBs around him will ever come in harm's way. It will be innocent blood that is shed.

14. Very true :(
And unfortunately, innocents are much more likely to be harmed than the Bushies and their sheep. Blue parts of blue states will be hit by terrorist attacks. And then there's the matter of response ... who knows what? Rounding up arabs, maybe even total fascist ascension. That is, if that phrase doesn't describe what we already have. Poor people, many African-American, will lose needed services. The entire planet will suffer the consequences of the environmental policies. It's a scary and sad time to be alive.

15. It's always the innocent that take the fall..

..never has been any different. Sorry, I can't do anything to help the "innocent". Think of it this way, half of the innocent (or half of their parents) voted for Bush.

Maybe the innocents of this country are going to have to suffer. Aren't they already?

Callous? You bet.

12. "People get the govt. they deserve" : Winston Churchill
And you are right. These religious fanatics elected a murderer of hundreds of thousands. America is now locked in a permanent Crusade with another group of relegious fundamentalists who think alike.

I shudder to even think whats coming.

17. Sadly, I agree
And for me, it's not just about the folks who did vote for him. I'm thinking of all the other eligible voters out there who didn't care enough to register and vote, or who are registered but didn't bother to go to the polls. They are also just as guilty as those folks who cast their ballots for Bush.

I am bound and determined this time that bush and his neanderthal "moral" base aren't taking me farther down the rabbit hole with them.

You'll get over the apathy just make sure you cover you own butt while you are going through the cynical stage!

ON EDIT: The "cover your butt thing" wasn't a hidden commentary
